YOu mean another RUSH24 because you hate this one or a different bag than this because you love this one so much?

According to the 5.11 website its imported.

OK that was a dick comment and I am sorry. Yes they are expensive but they are made in the US and the quality is really impressive. I agree with you about the pockets and would work well with light travel.
@SnareMan11 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Its a great bag. My watch is a Rolex Submariner. Another bad habit of mine. :-)
@SnareMan11 жыл бұрын
I haven't had a camelback. I had a Maxped backpack (vulture II maybe?) that I didn't get to a review of before I sold. I thought it was too stiff and hard to use. Great quality and durable, but I didn't care for it. These 5.11 bags seem to work better for me and I like their organization. I only had the experience with the 1 Maxped backpack though so my sample size is admittedly low.
@SnareMan11 жыл бұрын
I don't have any experience with Camelbak so I can't comment there. Compared to the 1 Maxped backpack I had I like this bag better because its "softer". I hated the stiffness of the maxped bag, although maybe it would have held up better?
@SnareMan11 жыл бұрын
Yea, I've seen some comments similar to that and there does seem to be some confusion over which is which. So I have the newer one then right? I think the differences people have suggested are in the waist strap? I forget.
@SnareMan11 жыл бұрын
Actually I just sold a Maxped bag because I wasn't so thrilled with it. :-) Bought the way cheaper LAPG Operator bag to use as a BOB instead. I use my RUSH bags for travel - 24 for big trips and 12 for small ones.
@SnareMan12 жыл бұрын
I think I've had it for a year or so. I've heard other people mention the belt strap thing and I'm not sure of the answer. You could call 5.11 and see what they say. They've been pretty helpful when I've called them.
@SnareMan12 жыл бұрын
It really depends on how much you're going to be carrying. If its just a laptop and a book or 2 the 12 would probably be fine, but if you need to carry lots of stuff I guess the 24 might be better.
@SnareMan12 жыл бұрын
I guess it depends on your needs for the bag. I don't need a water bottle pouch and haven't found the holes to be a problem. I can see where others would have different needs though.
@SnareMan12 жыл бұрын
@MrHALOCOUST Thanks. I suppose its possible that if you put it down in wet or super sandy stuff that a little big of stuff might get in there. I haven't tried it myself though.
@SnareMan11 жыл бұрын
You could certainly use it for school depending on how much stuff you need to carry as its pretty big. If you don't need to carry as much the RUSH 12 might work better.
@SnareMan12 жыл бұрын
Yea, I could do without the drainage holes, but they don't really bother me I guess. I wouldn't use a water bottle pouch. I guess everyone has their own needs and wants.
@SnareMan12 жыл бұрын
@miccalor Hmm... That's odd. Not sure what to make of that. I bought this one directly from 5.11 within the past month or two. I'd give them a call and see what they say
@SnareMan12 жыл бұрын
You could disconnect them and put them in there, but its not going to be super neat looking. As in, they weren't made to do it so it will work, but not ideal.
@SnareMan11 жыл бұрын
Yea, I'd think that for a BOB I'd want a 3 day bag. The 24 just doesn't hold enough unless your stuff is super compact.
@SnareMan11 жыл бұрын
I haven't used the 72 though.
@SnareMan11 жыл бұрын
You mean how much stuff do I carry in it or how much does the bag weigh? I'm honestly not sure of either.
@SnareMan12 жыл бұрын
Its a pretty good bag. I use this for long trips and the Rush12 for shorter trips.

I have the RUSH 72. It's much bigger than the RUSH 24, but the two biggest differences features wise, is the RUSH 72 has a waist belt, and an over spill compartment for a helmet, or a coat. The organization is great, and overall I think it's comfortable, but the build quality and craftsmanship is defiantly not up there with Specops Brand Brand, Camelbak or even Maxpedition.
@SnareMan12 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Its a great bag. Hope you like it!

I forgot to mention to whom it may concern, it's made in Vietnam, while Specops Brand is made in USA, and Camelbak is assembled in USA with foreign and domestic components.

I have this bag myself and enjoy it very much for winter EDC. I added some Seam Grip (outdoor clothing adhesive/seam sealer) in little dots to the underside of my shoulder straps for more grip on my shoulders when I'm wearing a nylon jacket. My only other gripe is that I wish it was made in the USA. Great video as always!!!
@OnRappel11 жыл бұрын
I don't own a 5.11 bag, but I have a few of their pouches molle vest pouches, which I'm not 100% impressed with. I do have numerous Maxpedition bags and a few Camelbak bags. How does this 5.11 bag compare to a comparable Maxpedition or Camelbak? It seems they are comparable in price.
@fisdu12 жыл бұрын
I have this backpack as my daily carry. I got it about 6 months ago to allow me to ride my motorcycle to work/school and still be able to carry my laptop. My Dell Latitude 6520 does not fit in the back(water bladder), but does fit very well in the big front pocket. My only issue with the backpack is it will not set up with out falling forward. This would not be an issue other than when I set it in my chair to load it up, it falls out of the chair if I do not hold it up.

I like the 5.11 designs. I'm just trying to decide whether to get the Rush 24 or 72 bag as a bug out bag. What do you think? Is the Rush 72 too big/bulky or does it work well. I'm leaning towards the 72 as it gives more capacity to add more and it looks like it can compress down compactly when not fully loaded. What do you think?? Thanks.
@ShikataGaNai10011 жыл бұрын
On trans-Pacific flights you can't always get an overhead bin...and the idea of sitting in a plane bound for Narita for 14-hours does not excite. But, I have a simple rule of packing...if it doesn't fit in an overhead or beneath the seat...it doesn't go with. Thanks again for the info.
@SnareMan12 жыл бұрын
@brutus4201 Not officially. I do have a Maxpedition bag that I use as my BOB. The nylon on it is MUCH stiffer and I really don't care for it. Quality on both is great, but I think I prefer the 5.11. It also has better organization. The Maxpedition is a high quality bag, but given the choice having the experience with it I wouldn't have bought it but would gladly rebuy the 5.11.
@ShikataGaNai10011 жыл бұрын
Have you ever had to gate-check it because they thought it was too big? I am torn between the RUSH 12 and 24. Even traveling overseas (Japan, Korea), I don't like carrying more than one bag. Some airlines have actually started weighing carry-ons. Amazing, eh?
@anonimouse412 жыл бұрын
@snareman95 So, what did 5.11 say? I'm thinking of getting this pack, and I think I'd like the one with the buckle for the waist strap and the 5.11 logo in front which can be used for more attachments because the other model doesn't allow that function
@Wandrew22312 жыл бұрын
Have you compared this pack to a similar model/size from Maxpedition?? Just curious to see what you thought in terms of quality for what your paying as well as which may be better for edc or better for some other specific purpose. Thanks Brother.
@SnareMan12 жыл бұрын
Shouldn't be a problem I don't think.
@wonderwall13512 жыл бұрын
Considering this backpack. Some big drawbacks..those "drainage" holes are so stupid for those who don't want hydration pouches. They are just entry ways for dirt, water, and bugs. Also, no water bottle pouch..
@SnareMan11 жыл бұрын
The GR bags are 2 and 3 times the price of this so I hope they are significantly better. I don't put this through super torture, mostly using it for travel, and its held up with no problems. I also like the extra organization that all of the extra external pockets offers when traveling.
@SnareMan11 жыл бұрын
I'm currently in Italy with mine. I've traveled a bunch with it and no one has ever given it a second glance when they come around looking at bags. If I'm going on a short trip I'll bring the 12 and long trips I bring the 24. People wouldn't try and put as much in their carry ons if the airlines didn't charge so much for checked bags. Kinda shot themselves in the foot there.
@miccalor12 жыл бұрын
what year model is that? I recently bought one and there are no buckles for a waist strap. Also the model displayed on the website does not have that buckle. The shoulder strap buckle looks different too.

do you know if the hydration area will fit a 100oz camelbak bladder? it's 17.5 inches tall. just want to make sure before i buy the bladder considering the inside if the pack is 18in tall

I don't really have any experience with the 72 so I can't say for sure. It really just depends on how much space you need. The 24 is pretty big, but if you need a ton of space the 72 might be better for you.

I can't imagine it not fitting into the overhead on a 14h flight on the larger planes. I've fit mine in the overhead (although maybe not fully stuffed) on a small commuter (1 set on the left and 2 seats on the right) sized plane. Just flew 10h back from Munich.

Thank you very much, great review, especially since you showed actual things we'd use, being put into the slots..... can I ask, if I want to put my hydration bag in the main compartment, instead of in the back pocket, can the strap to hold the bag in place be put through the hole for the hose and hold the hydration bag in place in the main compartment? (hope that makes sense!!! LOL) Cheers, Don (Perth W.Australia)

I can fit my 15" Mac whilst it is in its Incase sleeve in the main compartment. If I take it out of the sleeve it will fit in the bladder pocket. Negative points are it will make your back sweat lots as the space between bag and back is not good and if you only have a thin shirt on the bag can be uncomfortable on the shoulders. I have pimped the bag by providing webbing straps with a military grade Nexus two way quick release buckle and its a great improvement as the waist strap keep the bag where it should be. 5.11 should provide this rom new though as you can't simply put a belt through the existing buckles as it interferes with the shoulder straps where fixed at the bottom of the bag. It also takes a 38oz Nalgene wide top water bottle in the side pockets.
