been climbing for about 3.5 years now and hoping to hit 5.12a this year. I started 2020 being comfortable (usually flashing) 5.10c in the gym and 5.12a seemed like a realistic objective. But I couldn't make it before year's end. And since then all gyms have been put in lockdown again for 2 months now. Just reopened... so I definitely regressed (had months of lockdown last year as well...) I still think with some home exercises I was able not to lose too much so hopefully, 5.12 will finally happen this year.

Nice man - the shutdowns and restrictions definitely set a lot of people back, but the rocks not going anywhere! So just get focused again and enjoy getting back to it :) Good Luck with 5.12 !! If you are flashing 5.10c maybe pick a few short term 11a/b/c projects which you will be able to knock down in a few sessions as a next step. Just getting on things outside my comfort level really helped boost my climbing at the start of this process. Shows you what is actually achievable and forces you to really climb well and learn how to break down projects and climbs into manageable chunks. Either way make sure to have a good time!

Awesome Chris, Thanks for the sub and support mate. Hope some of these videos help you out too! My biggest help for jumping that grade was to go out and climb with people pushing harder than I was. Makes you realise there is no harm in getting on projects just to get used to moving through sequences at that grade. Also they can go rescue bail biners for you ;)

Hey Pebble Wrestler! Its on the goldie mate sorry, think you are thinking of sunnie coast. New Gym Alpine Indoor Climbing. I'd love more training partners to keep the stoke, but seems it might be a bit of a drive for one of us ;)

Have to get back up there soon. Had a few goes on Nitro at Ninderry years back and thought it was an amazing line. Feel like I might be able to give it a solid crack now. Will shoot you a message if we are heading up that way. Cheers.

This is hilarious. You are like 2x stronger than I was when I climbed my first 5.13a. You are aiming far too low my man. 5.13a is going to be a piece of cake with that base fitness level. You just need some time on rock, clearly.

Man you are going to love the next series then! 5.15c Journey! Jokes aside, appreciate the feedback. Agree I need to get out more to the crag, running a small business / family last few years has been more of a focus but looking to get a mid week crag day on a regular basis in to help bump up mileage now!

Curious Paul, for the 20mm edge hang, did you have a set amount of time for it? Or just being able to pull off the ground? I'm in the same boat as you, trying to move into my first 13, good luck man!

Appreciate it! For the Hangs - all were 10 second hangs . I think Crimped app does 8 sec max hang test which I had done before too. Just chose 10 sec as I have some baseline values from 2017 all in 10 seconds, which I was curious to measure against.
