Southern California here. Inland Empire reporting in. I don’t think we felt the 7.0 down here. Just finding out about it now. Granted, I don’t watch mainstream news sources, so… But Dutchsinse’s (another quake reporter) got shut down mid live-stream following the 7.0. Not a peep from him since November 28. That doesn’t settle well with me. Glad to see this channel is still reporting in. Thank you. Praying for California and the West Coast. 🙏

I just can’t shake this feeling that a massive quake is going to happen in our lifetime… I grew up in the Puget Sound area by Seattle and we always had earthquake drills in school. At the beginning of the year the parents had to bring an emergency kit for their kid to the school. I also experienced two decent sized quakes growing up. I’m not excited about what’s coming.

Actually, thinking that this is just part of a normal after shock sequence to a very large earthquake. When you have a 7.2 magnitude earthquake, it is not unusual to see aftershocks which are defined as their own earthquakes prompted by the original shock that also generate their own after shocks, that are 5.0-6.0+ magnitudes.
@ParticleBeamLeonard20 сағат бұрын
I think that the 5.2 was the "larger movement" that you warned us to watch out for.

Understand that seismic activity in Northern California is backflow from energy headed south. So much energy has built up on the southern San Andreas, shocks along the northern part and the Cascadia segment, because incoming energy can't be fully transferred. But, expect the Big One to hit Los Angeles, as 8.0 megaquake hits the Garlock Fault, unzipping the entire SA from top to bottom.
@cathytalisman922716 сағат бұрын
Interesting. Any idea when you think we might get that 8.0?

Thank you for constantly warning about the 9.0 quake that is about to hit the Cascadia Subzone very soon! When the floor of the ocean drops 100' the tidal wave will wipe out Vancouver and Victoria while the ground underneath Seatle and Portland will turn to mush. Yellowstone will have eruptions of lava while several volcanoes along the coast will erupt also. The fault lines in California will crack apart breaking gas lines bringing fires that can't be extinguished due to broken water lines. What is happening now is a warning to those living on the west coast that they need to heed.

@theearthmaster -- Rob, my mother was a singer. She swore by brandy, and kaluha and cream, as a voice restorer. This is a slip fault. The big normal fault is when Juan de Fuca gets a big push and drops under the North American plate. That is where a "big one" Cascadia fault drops meters, North America thrusts up, creating the big wave tsunami. That's the where subsidence occurs, not on that Mendocino fault line. I know you know this. I wrote for your members. Great job and thanks from a former Half Moon Bay resident. I used to watch that great ocean daily. There was a seismograph in the front entrance. science building at SFSU. We watched daily and ran to view it after a quake. That was in the late 1970's. Rob, can you read Tension - Compression "beachball" diagrams. They provide insight into the nature of the quake. You know about the buoys. Again, good job. You can do more. If you want. Different Fault Systems: • The earthquakes you’ve mentioned near Petrolia and surrounding areas are occurring along the Mendocino Triple Junction, a highly active tectonic region where three plates (Pacific, Gorda, and North American) meet. • These quakes are not directly on the Cascadia Subduction Zone, but they are part of the broader tectonic system. • Earthquakes in this area are common and expected. It doesn’t necessarily mean stress is transferring to Cascadia. 2. Partial or Full Cascadia Rupture? • A partial rupture (affecting only a segment of Cascadia) could potentially happen, but such events usually follow specific seismic patterns, such as: • Slow-slip events: Deep, silent earthquakes that release stress without shaking. • Tectonic tremors: Low-frequency shaking deep beneath the fault. • There’s no evidence from USGS or other trusted seismologists that these are currently occurring in ways that point to an imminent rupture. Likelihood of a “Big One” Right Now • Full Rupture (M8.0-M9.0): The Cascadia Subduction Zone is capable of producing a massive quake, but there are no definitive signs that one is imminent. These quakes occur approximately every 200-500 years (last one was in 1700). • Partial Rupture (M7.0+): Smaller ruptures along portions of the Cascadia zone are possible, but they don’t usually follow shallow quakes on unrelated faults, such as the Mendocino Fault. Why Is the Speaker Saying This? • Pattern Misinterpretation: The speaker may be associating the recent earthquakes with broader Cascadia concerns. While heightened activity can sometimes lead to speculation, there’s no scientific evidence that small quakes on other faults trigger Cascadia events. • Appealing to Anxiety: Discussions about Cascadia often attract attention because it’s a high-risk fault zone with devastating potential. However, predictions like these are not based on the current seismic data shared by reputable sources like the USGS. What Should You Do? 1. Follow Official Sources: Trust updates from the USGS, Pacific Northwest Seismic Network (PNSN), or California’s Earthquake Authority rather than speculative predictions. 2. Stay Prepared: Living near tectonic plate boundaries means earthquakes are a fact of life. Always have an emergency plan and kit ready, regardless of current activity. 3. Evaluate Critically: Be cautious about relying on independent sources that speculate without concrete data. Look for claims backed by peer-reviewed studies or major seismic monitoring organizations. Bottom Line Recent earthquakes in the Mendocino Triple Junction are not unusual, and they don’t necessarily mean Cascadia will rupture soon. Speculation about partial or full ruptures may sound plausible, but there’s no concrete evidence to support these claims at this time. Keep monitoring trusted sources, and don’t let fear overwhelm you-being prepared is the best step you can take.

@brendanino415918 сағат бұрын
You’re welcome! I understand the concern, but I think it’s important to keep perspective. Magnitude 5 earthquakes are expected, especially after a significant 7.0 event. These smaller quakes help release pressure, and in fact, we should be more worried if we weren’t seeing aftershocks-it would suggest the fault might still be holding stress. Let’s stay informed, but not let fear overshadow the science and other facts

I've been keeping an eye on the Cascadia Subduction Zone for about 8 years ever since I happened to watch a documentary about it. I had never heard of the CSZ before that! To make a long story short, a group of scientists did several tests and studies, and I remember that their biggest conclusion was that the CSZ was "locked and loaded," and could pop at any moment. You obviously know a great deal about the faults around the planet, especially in the western US. If Cascadia does "pop", do you think it's likely to cause a chain reaction with any other faults? Could it possibly set off Yellowstone? Thank you!

C'mon, man. You are giving such remedial information, I feel like you're trying to explain tectonics to kindergartners. Explain why there was no tsunami after such a noisy Tsunami Alert. How deep was the 7.0, the 5.?. You voice is very difficult to hear.

I will take what comes and join my ancestors in the afterlife. There is no need to follow others' beliefs due to fear of the unknown. To HEL I will go - she waits for us with open arms within her realm. Have you lived a good life - a life free of wrongdoing unto others? Have you helped those in need the best you can? Is your mind free of guilt? Make your peace, come to terms, for if you do not, the Goddess may not allow you to pass through until your soul is at peace. Do not ask your god for this peace. You must help yourself.

Are you going to issue an apology for all the fear you are inciting when what you are propagating doesn’t happen? I’d give you a view for that and some actual respect.
