This video gave me chills. I just finished surviving the tornado in Rogers, Arkansas that tore down gorgeous, old trees resulting in roads being blocked all through town. NWS said there were numerous tornadoes which struck in the early morning hours of 5/26/24: 1 in Rogers, 1 in Decatur, 2 by the lake, and multiple other tornadoes around Benton County. Power outages were widespread as we sweltered in the heat with no air conditioning. Sitting there in my inside room in total darkness, knowing I could be dead at any instant was traumatising. One of my cats is still crying out in his sleep.

These are the scariest storms because you can't see anything forming that well when it is this dark outside. We had a storm the other day...one second it was light out the next second it was so dark outside and it was morning at about 10 a.m. It came out of no where. I lived in Oklahoma as a child and moved back to Texas when I was a teenager and lived in Iowa for several years and I had never seen this weather so crazy as now.
@R2D2C_3po5 ай бұрын
There might have been no tornado warning initially. However, I believe that there was a tornado watch already in effect. When you have a tornado watch in effect, then you should treat any storm approaching you as having the potential of actively dropping tornadoes! That's especially true for a storm approaching you with this much lightning during a tornado watch. The radar signature of this storm made it crystal clear that this was a dangerous long-track supercell storm. Even if you don't have an active tornado warning, then it's best to take shelter from a storm like this one, or at least stay within close distance to a shelter. You're always better off being safe rather than sorry when it comes to a tornadic storm like this one! This particular storm was an extremely dangerous long-track tornadic supercell that kept dropping tornado after tornado for more than 400 miles! This storm started dropping tornadoes around the north side of Tulsa and across Eastern Oklahoma. Then moved all the way across Northern Arkansas to the Missouri Bootheel, dropping numerous tornadoes along the way. From the Bootheel it moved crossed the Mississippi River to the area along the Tennessee-Kentucky line, and ended up still dropping multiple tornadoes deep inside Western Kentucky. This storm finally dissipated over the Appalachian Mountains near the Kentucky-Virginia line. Fortunately long-track tornadic supercell storms like this one are a rare beast. However, a storm like this one is arguably the most dangerous type of thunderstorm there is. Long-track tornadic supercells like this one have been responsible for some of the worst tornado outbreaks in history across hundreds of miles!

I watched the first 21 minutes and did not once see a funnel in front of the camera. What I did see was the front move in from left to right, but the only power flashes were from the tornado behind the camera. Insane lightning though! I’ve never seen lightning this intense. Amazing!

There was no front, look before the funnel shows before the 13min mark, also there was 2 areas of circulation and 2 confirmed tornadoes by the NWS. Also fronts don't usually come all the way down to the ground unless they have a tornado attached to them.

This is terrifying to me. The worse is night tornados. Where are the sirens located? Are they near every neighborhood?
@1018weather5 ай бұрын
Anywhere in town you can hear the sirens, they're evenly spread out through the whole town. If you listen close you can hear a really loud one and one further off in the distance in this video. Those sirens are about 2 miles apart.

That was one wicked lightning ⚡⚡⛈️ storm! And I couldn't or could barely make out the tornado 🌪️ even when you pointed it out to us. Tornadoes at night or in afforested areas are scary because you can't see them. Doubly so it it's both and double again if they're surrounded by rain. That's why I don't ever want to see a tornado 🌪️ in person where I live.

At the 13min mark the funnel begins to form, comes down and then goes towards the right of the video. Definitely terrifying, especially since there was another one on the ground behind the camera destroying stuff. Thank you for watching!

Regardless of the tornado, I used to get what I'd call electrical storms like this one multiple times every summer, but now I'm lucky to hear thunder at all each summer. Something has made t-storms literally avoid my area for decades. It's hilarious how the fear mongering media screams weather's getting worse when the weather here is getting milder. Even the summer temps excluding this one have been very below average for years. It is making up for it this summer, tho hotter than hell, but I think I've heard maybe 5 claps of thunder this year. That said we even had a severe storm warning today didnt hear any thunder wtf?

The whole weather pattern is changing, places that didn't get many tornadoes are getting lots of them now, same for storms, places that use to get a lot of storms aren't anymore, it's changing fast too. These last few years have provided a ton of severe weather for Northeast Arkansas.
