When Amorim was appointed, I expected him to raid the academy immediately. We knew these first team players are out of their depth and can't be trusted, and Amorim has a great record with young talent... But it hasn't happened yet. He's given the same players the chance to let him down and they have... To the surprise of nobody. It seems like the perfect time for a youngster to make a star of themselves. I refuse to believe they could do any worse, so just give someone a chance to shine.

I don't believe that any academy player should be a guarantee to make it, but at the very least, I feel like they should be allowed to earn their way to a debut. That's where I feel most let down by some prospects in the past, where they've performed brilliantly at youth level but then left the club without ever making a senior appearance to show what they're about, or to make that dream that they worked so hard over so many years to realise come true.
@dustinmccrindle34325 күн бұрын
Especially if we're not giving them 1st team cameos, I'd like the youngsters with promise to be loaned out to get tested and learn in a higher level than youth football. That'll let us know if they're good youth players, or potential Premier League players. And if they're not quite good enough it gives valuable experience, that should up their sell on value.

Thwaite has a dead ball kick close to Beckham. I think Gore is the most ready...shocked he's not had a sniff...and Moorhouse recently back from long lay-off...looks as close to ready too. What I will say is, and this is basically what I assume because it seems the smart thing to happen, I don’t necessarily mind the fact that some of the youngsters we expect to get chances this season, are not getting them, and not going out on loan. Because you would hope that Amorim is moulding them into players that fit his system perfectly, so they can pretty much hit the ground running. I’d love to see a world where we don’t see Amass until next season, if it means he’s going to come into the team and be perfect for either saving ineos money, and meaning we can spend big on another player, or just getting that rotation role behind a solid option to prepare him for his own future. - same goes for the rest of the players mentioned. But you do have to ask, what formations are being played in the academy? Because if they don’t really have them playing in the formation necessary for the first team, you’d think they’d struggle to go quickly into the team.

I for one would love the best players at this club, to be competitive, but realistically how long can they keep pay over the top for players, when their performance isn’t there? I don’t need to tell you what/how the Glazers have spent United’s profits, even going into debit, I’m sure everyone here understands that extremely well. For ages I have written this script. I have said time and again, you will not fix Utd by buying the odd star. We don't have the money or the kudos anymore. This first team squad is below par. I would sell most of them. And replace them with youngsters that can grow together. And our best teams have always solidified that bond in the academy. We have nothing to lose trying to integrate academy youngsters. Amorim wants fast energetic players, prepared to work. You are describing eager youngsters. We have a few young ones in the first team, but we also have a lot of pensioners. I wouldn't be spending big money, we don't have in January. I would be selling heaps. Get them out with a cattle prod if you have to. The saving in wages alone is worth having. Scout some good youngsters to buy and promote our own. Fight to stay up this year and start building a young team for the future. That is what I want to see. And also for Jim to act like a Man Utd fan and respect the heritage of the club. This isn't some petrochemical conglomerate. It is an entity that he is helping to destroy.

The main reason why Amorim hasn't used many young players is because he would be putting them in a position to fail. The 1st team lads have experience playing in the premier league so at worst they can compete but they are learning to play a new tactic. For the young lads, they would have to learn a new way of doing things and going up against the cream of the crop in the premier league, the hardest league in the world. I wouldn't risk ruining their development, I would wait until next season to unleash the academy. They will have had a full summer to learn Amorim ball and they can make an impact then.

I really hate this thing fans do, when things are going wrong, just throw in some young players. Not only would it be disastrous for us, but also possibly career de-railing for them. All the u18 players you've listed are good young players with high potential, all of them are years away from mens football. I'd maybe throw Amir in, in a cup match late on or if we're ever winning by a few goals, late on. We're in the mess we are currently because we're already overly reliant on too maybe young players, who are understandably inconsistent. Gore, is a maybe because he's at a point in his development where he needs to play or go. But his size is an issue with our current central makeup. The player I'd be tempted to have around the squad is Scanlon. He's physically developed, has played mens football at International level & could play LWB or as the left 10. He's the only one in the u18s I'd be confident would be physically ready. Whether or not he's of the standard needed is debatable.

Jesus Stephen! Kukonki is 16 years old. Mental fortitude is key than football technique in pro football. He is young let him be developed in mental capabilities too. Loan move is more advicable. If were hurried Amad process then he wouldn't have been the level he is today.

Dan Gore needs another loan move, he’s 20 now and needs first team minutes under his belt.

You throw youngsters on in games you are 3-0 up unless they have that magic that could win you a tight game. Utd need to string some wins together to relive some of the pressure this team are under before thrusting these youngsters into the spotlight. Maybe these youngsters could come in and do a job in an emergency due to injuries but none of them are the answer to Utd’s problems. Utd need top top quality players to improve the overall level of the starting 11. Youngsters like Lamal, Musiala, Pedri, Gavi, and to a lesser extent Guler got game time at top clubs because they were exceptional. If Utd had youngsters of that pedigree then I’d say play them. Wonder kids are hard to come by though, Obi-Martin joined with a big reputation would like to see if he can make that step up sooner rather than later. Utd need a talisman, someone to get fans excited again.

I say this based on performances for United, not the loan, which was a misstep due to unfortunate events
