I have a bayliner 175 bow rider inboard outboard, but I use my 12 foot American 12 more for fishing. I use a 45lb thrust trolling motor for fishing back waters. Really enjoy it. It fits in the bed of my truck. I stand up and fish in it. It's awesome.

Here in Socal - California we mostly run a livingston 14 best boat you can buy for around 3,000$ it's a mini catamaran I have one myself center console with a 4 stroke 40 yamaha and I take it 10-20 miles offshore on calm days, been doing that for over 6 years now. Very solid boat

No such thing unless you want to put your life in danger.

@@forbolden so people can go offshore with a kayak but not a small boat ?
@forbolden2 ай бұрын
@@Maquelic Off shore is a general term. 15 miles out is beyond the sight of land. Both a kayak and small boat are not designed to handle 6ft waves in the ocean much less 20ft swells out at sea. The ocean is dangerous if you are inexperience and underestimate it. I've been on a 30' boat and had 20' foot swells and that's not fun. Nothing like having waves come over the bow to make it exciting and we were still within sight of land. You can't see the waves that the winds formed coming towards you from 1000 miles away. Never underestimate the power of the ocean, too many people do and either the coast guard saves them, because they were notified, or they die.

@@forboldenwhat kind of boat could take you just under 3 miles from shore? (distance a quick Internet search says is how far away you can see land from)

@@animehair05silently88 Others may have a different opinion but I would go in a 20 foot Deep V hull with a good freeboard. Helps with the waves. The issue is you have to have all the equipment the Coast Guard requires also. A good VHF radio helps immensely if you get into trouble. Think of it this way, how far do you want to swim if your boat sinks because it took a wave and rolled or got swamped. Doesn't take much to roll a little boat. Another thing that matters is where. I live in Washington State and most guys will have a cab on their boat because of the weather while down in the Gulf you will see a lot of center consoles.
