I've been team Molskine for nearly fifteen years at this point, but I'm currently trying out the Beechmore Book Sketchbook, and I became an instant fan. 9.6/10 Highly recommend as a Moleskine alternative that can really REALLY compete with the price and quality. The sketchbook is a little bigger, with slightly thicker paper, and the packaging was beautiful. 🌷

@@juliacastro8928 I think it does! I mostly sketch with colored pencils, mainly Faber Castell and Prismacolor, the Premier and the Col-Erase, and the Beechmore Sketchbook accepts them beautifully. It has a touch more tooth while still being a smooth paper and doesn't eat away at my colored pencils or other drawing materials. Lemme know if that helps!

@@sundayinbloom ok thank you for responding back! :) I mainly do realistic portraits in colored pencils,so I need that touch of texture to my paper,because I noticed the Moleskine doesn’t really work well for colored pencils,but works with graphite pencils beautifully,I needed for the paper to accept many layers and for the paper to be thick.

I recently upgraded to the larger 8.5 x 11 moleskine after buying small 5 x 8 ones for the last 10 years and omg it's worth it thank you for the recs, might check out Ohuhu markers, i remember using Copics back in high school and I'm super glad there are competitors now (they are so expensive)

I also think the Stillman and Birn sketchbooks are great, Alpha for a little tooth and Zeta for smooth. Further, the Zeta doesn’t bleed alcohol markers too much

I love Moleskine , Illo , & Artists Loft sketchbooks 😊 , Bic ball point pens and pentel rsvp pens ball point are my go tos as well. Mechanical pencils as well

I was looking for an all-around mixed media paper. Good for watercolor, decent enough for markers. Believe it or not, the Artists Loft brand isn't bad. I love a good pen but struggling to find a good, thin mechanical pencil.

Most important thing about Ohuhus, i think: they are super affordable for what they are! Copics are great but i hated using them because they're so pricy. Ohuhu prices make sense & it makes them much more enjoyable in general.

Good luck on the insurance claim they'll give you every reason not to cover something. I remembered I had stuff stolen out my house and I had to prove I had purchase those items by having receipts or the original boxes (some items they wouldn't even take that). Luckily now I shop online more so I can validate everything I purchase. Like I barely buy in person now unless it's groceries. And also thanks for the recommendations.

Hullo Sara, I was still looking for a go to brand of watercolor paints after coming back to traditional mediums after a 15 year digital detour! I ordered and purchased several brands of primary colors and went with Mijello gold watercolor paint. I was having difficulties and was not enjoying my paintings and I have been painting with watercolors since I was 10 years old! I started out with Grumbacher, but y local art shop had closed and they simply had disappeared online. I watched a video by Denise Soden and her channel In Liquid Color was a true revelation! I immediately purchased a set of DaVinci watercolors and I was completely blown away!!! I have become a fan of this brand and I just cannot say enough great things about it. From the professional quality paints to customer service to affordable prices, I just don’t believe that you can find a better paint in North America! They are a smaller family run company, but they produce the most consistent results and I just love their paints. I know that you have a difficult time getting them overseas but they do ship internationally and they do offer discounts to their customers, I signed up for the email announcements and they are never an intrusion in my mailbox! I believe that you would change your mind about your paint of choice if you tried them out! Thank you for sharing your must have supplies and I can get behind all of your choices but paints!
