On a short kanji class in Kyoto I was told to use my right hand, although I'm left handed. This turned out to be less difficult than I expected, as it's all a matter of arm movement, with no part of your arm or hand touching the paper.
@kesialeite79136 жыл бұрын
Yeah! It's difficult because almost all (or all) kanji, hiragana and katakana start from the left *;-;* (I write starting from the right, I make my rules hahahaha)
@scotmcpherson6 жыл бұрын
The only problem with that is, if you don't know what a kanji means, and you need to draw it into a mobile device or even draw it for a japanese person, neither will know what you are drawing. Stroke order is very important to writing kanji. Either learn the underwriting technique or practice with your right hand. It really only takes a little practice for your off hand to get with the program.

Is it always top to bottom before left to right, or are there kanji that prioritize left to right over top to bottom?
@pinkmagicali7 ай бұрын
I heard in a documentary that some kids are taught to write the kanji with breathing exercises, like meditation. And they do it in pen because you can't erase it and you learn to do it carefully. It sounded super cool but I can't find any info or details about this. Can anyone tell me about it? Apparently you have to breath out when doing strokes...or maybe it was in between. I can't remember, hence my search for info.

I kind of didn't understand the fifth point! ( A crossing stroke is always last)!when we write sensei ,while writing (sei) the horizontal stroke is 3rd ,y not last?
@gemgem24able3 жыл бұрын
Because kanji stroke order is messed up. Look up the stroke order of 必 (かなら[ず]). It doesn't make sense while the Chinese stroke order makes more sense. Look at 右 (みぎ) and 左 (ひだり). They messed that up too. Compare that to the Chinese stroke order. Also, in Chinese, 田 the horizontal stroke is written 3rd. In Japanese it is 4th. Don't get me wrong, I love Kanji (and Japanese writing in general) and that's why I'm learning it. Even in Taiwan, there are differences in stroke order compared to that in mainland China. So, i guess there really is no answer "why" since they can't even agree which stroke order to use. Lol. I guess stroke order doesn't really matter much, as long as you remember to write the radicals in the correct order.

Sometimes the stroke order change from Chinese to Japanese. You should check on the online dictionaries or at least on your Chinese book the stroke order of an Hanzi/kanji when you are in difficulty. I hope it helps. ^_^
