Everyone, If you have Eddie out you can cancel his attacks into others. As an Example, If you have him out and he's Using Appose but you want him to maybe leap, you would do 236 Slash and Zato will clap, canceling Appose and forcing Eddie to use Leap. You can also make Eddie go back into the Shadows by using 214 Heavy Slash. Also remember that if Eddie is out, He will perform attacks after You let go of a button. Just a few useful tips that can really help with your Eddie game!

Just a heads up to add about jump Dust. If you Roman Cancel right around 2-3 frames after jD, it launches you like 80% of full screen in like 6 frames. It's pretty fast. The velocity also depends on how early you Roman Cancelled. Do it too fast and you land back down. Do it too late, the distance becomes 70% full screen. I think the game transfer the velocity of Eddie to Zato when RC'd. Also if you high jump and RCjD you get the full screen distance allowing you to surprise them. It's also jump cancellable so you can change trajectory at any time to toss his first Overdrive if you wanted. Hoping to surprise a Ky or Axl with it one of these days.

Yeah super useful for getting past all the zoning shenanigans! I left that out of this vid since it’s meant to be for beginner players, but definitely a great maneuver to keep in the back pocket

To be fair I-no does that too! Her high low is crazy. To be frank with you, I think having 2 characters in this game will be pretty normal since the characters all play so different and have good/bad matchups. Mess around with both!

The DP motion (right down down-right) gave me trouble for a really long time, just something you have to hop in training mode in practice. If the motion isn’t the issue for you, make sure you get them 1) close up and 2) when they aren’t in hitstun. It whiffs if they’re still in hitstun

This is some good shit man. Could you go more in-depth as to how to use drunkard shade? I find that eddie always gets hit when going out, should I be using it mid combo to set eddie up?
@Gankstomper3 жыл бұрын
Use it to put Eddie behind them while they're blocking Eddies drills. I usually have him do either P or S when he gets behind them because those moves come out fastest.
@KRCPinto3 жыл бұрын
Something I’ve been seeing all the top players do is put up Oppose (the big wall Eddie move) to take a hit from a poke, then use Drunkard Shade to counterhit the poke and move Eddie simultaneously. During any move is smart though. Check out some KnowKami play or clips from Whateverdude151 and Jonathan Tene, they all do this a lot!

Do you have any recommendations for pad players that play zato? It’s pretty much impossible to negative edge with the default controller settings
@KRCPinto3 жыл бұрын
I’m actually having this same issue myself. I’m a pad player too. Don’t have as much issue with holding S HS or K but I do shift to a claw grip to do P stuff (like 214S crossup pressure). Certainly much more of a struggle than on stick unfortunately :/

Try to catch KnowKami on stream, he plays zato with pad and he's incredibly good

Most Zato pad players bind some of their moves to shoulder buttons to make negative edging easier

Great Guide! But I have one question left, is Zato really that hard to play? I love his personality and overall design, but I’m not very familiar with Guilty Gear games and I haven’t played any character like him. So instead of wasting my first few weeks on learning something about this character, just to learn that I won’t be able to play him, I wanted to make sure that he is possible to learn for a beginner :)
@KRCPinto3 жыл бұрын
Possible yes, but definitely takes work. His shadow, Eddie, is a unique puppet resource so learning Zato also means learning to manipulate Eddie effectively. It’s challenging but doable! If you’re looking for an easy character to pick up and get going, he may not be the best choice. But if you like a challenge and feel rewarded by learning, he’s fantastic! If you want a pick-up-and-go character, I definitely recommend Sol, Ramlethal, or May. Welcome to Guilty Gear, by the way! Nothing but fun here 🤙🏼
@brandoamvs3 жыл бұрын
@@KRCPinto Thank you for your answer! When deciding a main in fighting games, I usually play the character I like the most, even when they are low or low mid tier. And I think with Zato it will be something similar. I’ll give him a try, and when it doesn’t work out I’ll go on with an easier character, thanks! :)
@KRCPinto3 жыл бұрын
I highly recommend following Whateverdude151 on Twitter, he posts a lot of useful tech. The character has a high floor but once you understand Eddie, you can be super creative. I’ll be making more guides too, so keep an eye out!

WaitWaitWaitWaitWait Zato and Eddie are 2 different things? So much so that Eddie needs his own video? Sorry, I play May, I have no idea about anything regarding Zato.
@KRCPinto3 жыл бұрын
Kind of! Zato can raw summon Eddie or summon him with a special move. Once Eddie is on screen, Zato controls him by releasing buttons, which is called “negative edge”. For example, if you press Slash, Punch, and Heavy Slash and hold them all down, whichever one you release first will determine Eddie’s next move. He’s a complicated but very rewarding and powerful character!
