If the sponges are aquarium safe they can be used in a box filter, , the used sponge covered in algae can be left in the aquarium for fish or shrimp to eat and if left in the aquarium long enough, the sponge will grow/accumulate beneficial bacteria to start a new tank.

The sponges are amazing for cleaning anything glass. Dishwasher spots are easily removed, aquarium walls cleaned, and even windows. I glue a few to a swiffer pad and clean taller windows with them.

And if you find GOOD products, grab an extra or 2 in case of emergencies, like heaters & airstones. I usually grab some green zip ties to corral my houseplants as well as foam rings to corral floaters & also a skimmer comb/rake for getting rid of f/duckweed.

Yes absolutely🙌, I always buy extra heaters, filters, etc. You never know when you're going to need them.
