Society as a whole can learn from these people, especially in today's messed up world. Thank you for keeping the old ways alive.❤

I didn’t really learn anything new after 8th, maybe 9th grade. I was the experimental millenial generation of no child left behind, and all we did in higshchool was prepare for the standardized test which determined the schools funding based on students scores. I could have never went to higshchool and been perfectly fine. I’ve never have a job that required a diploma.

Not everyone is all about computers. There will always be a place for carpenters, farmers, and well made furniture and household items.

Their 8th grade education is better than ours

The reality is that their system has worked for generations, and is still working today in our tech world. It doesn’t matter how much society changes or advances, they will remain light years ahead of the rest of us in every capacity!

Are you admiring them or criticizing them? They are not going to change their mind so, stick to showing the good of all of their hard work and admire their love for family and their community.

The Amish limiting of education is irrelevant because what is being taught in our modern so called schools is not education. A practical education in real world skills and developing a useful work ethic is far more valuable. The Amish are the epitome of community.

They learn more than we do by the 6 th grade. It's not how long you're in the classroom, it's what materials are covered without the stress. US schools are a battle ground anymore!

If there was less emphasis placed on government run education most people would be far better off I did my schooling during the 1950 - 60 era , here in Australia, and very few did the last year ( Matriculation/ yr 12 ) at school ., and naturally not everyone who did that year passed and went on to University. These days the government strongly encourages EVERYONE to do 12 levels ( years ) at school and then go to University for 3-4 years . Naturally enough the whole system has been dumbed down to enable all students supposedly reach such educated heights - and a large percentage of them can’t even get a job. Ah , but the world is a far better place now - WHAT RUBBISH !!!!!!!!

The Amish education system is so much better than public schools. Our kids graduate and half can't read much less do plumbing, carpentry, farming, quilting, cooking etc. etc.! Public schools could learn a lot from the Amish.

Interesting, My comment isn't showing 🤔. I don't know where you got your information from but I did look it up and there was one article that mentioned about half. Can't read but it was talking about proficiency and that high schoolers by time they graduate do not have an literacy rate higher than 8th grade.

@@KCH55 They aren't going to college. They are learning trade and work skills to survive at home. Public schools and colleges are failing in the US. Teachers are complaining that the language barrier is making it difficult to teach. Discipline is a huge problem also. The Amish are very successful at business. They are woodworkers, plumbers, farmers, etc.! I think they read much better than what is being reported. Public schools should follow their example.

@@enaid54 language barrier. Do you know that the Amish don't speak English when they are taught? Growing up they speak Pennsylvania Dutch. When they attend school, they learn the English language. English is their second language.

@@KCH55 Yes, but they can communicate with their teacher. They speak Pennsylvania Dutch and English. Public schools are getting students from all over the world with no way to communicate. Big Problem!

What you see as a bad habit, for them it isn't. If the Amish were trying to go to college to become what OUR society deemed successful but dropped out at 8th grade then yes. But they aren't trying to become the next federal court judge, so why is this bad? Our medical system is encouraged to keep us sick so they make more money. When in reality, a lot of big pharmas solutions aren't as good as natures remedies (they don't want you to know that). Granted, you should probably see a doctor for some things, just not all things. I do agree that inbreeding is bad though. In short, A habit for THEM in THEIR society would be bad in OUR society, but does NOT necessarily equate to it being a bad habit for THEM. Quit twisting things, please 🙏

Public school is more of a baby setter teaching bad habits. Omish school is equal to 2nd year of college.
