Hey mate. This is excellent. Just getting back in to chess after years of not playing. Was only an average player at best but now looking to lift my game. I've viewed a bunch of different chess sites on you tube and there are a few good ones, but the way you explain it really clicked with me. Straight to the point and good, quick ways of explaining the various options. You're an excellent teacher, thanks for taking the time to share. This really does help train my tactical mind.

7:20 wouldn't h6 be a more powerful move? If gxh6 then Be7+ winning a rook and if black doesn't take the h pawn white plays Be7 with the queen and pawn threatening checkmate white would win a rook. An alternative if black doesn't take pawn is hxg7 kxg7 (because if black doesn't play this move then gxf8=Q+ winning a rook for a pawn) then Be7 again winning a rook for bishop. Is there something I'm missing here? I'm not that great a player so I'm always open to criticism! :)
@rahimbasal69904 жыл бұрын
Nvm, black could just respond with g6 stopping the attack but against a less powerful player it might have worked. Also for all the variations, instead of bishop taking rook, Qb7# would have been better.

@@imodekillz5846 If the King goes to E7 then black loses its Queen on E4 because the Knight on F6 can't recapture the white Queen on E4 since it is now pinned to the King on E7 by whites Bishop on G5

This is a helpful video, but on the trap starting at 13:55, you give up a knight and a rook for the queen, so on material alone, not really a decisive advantage.

0:53 Wait. Why is Black not just hammering after that Queen with Pawns? Black Pawn to B5, Queen takes, Black pawn to A6, Queen takes, and White loses the Queen to Black rook.. I just got hit with this opening as Black, and the opponent just sat the Queen in the middle, and it was painful . I can only conclude, an aggressive Queen opening seems not well handled with dual Knights. You need to get your pawns and Bishops out, and play a lot of defense, maybe hold off on castling, so that move can also be used to defend the middle with small pieces.
@christopherpavlicas4 жыл бұрын
The white queen cannot be "trapped" by the black A and B pawns. For instance, It is not "forced" to take the A6 pawn allowing it to be recaptured by either the Rook on A8 or the Bishop on C8, rather it just moves away to a safe square.

Pawn on H5 takes Knight on G6. Regardless if Pawn on H7 takes back on G6 or not, White Queen moves to H4 setting up a battery with the Rook on H1 to deliver Checkmate on the next move. Black simply doesn't have time to defend this and Black King is trapped.
