There is no such thing as a “hybrid” tire as a class. It is a term that describes off road tires that fall in between all terrain and mud terrain. Something like an A/T that has a more aggressive tread (more spacing,larger lugs) or a M/T that has a less aggressive tread design. So some people have a different idea what would be a hybrid. I have the Falken Wild Peak A/T on mine Jeeps and truck and they are definitely much more capable than most A/T tires on the market.

I have falkin at3w like shown. I put them on January 2020 , they are 18in 33s on a Silverado 1500 z71. I have driven over 50k miles and they still are not down to the wear bars, i do rotate them every oil change that helps. I live in Oklahoma and have gotten some snow and ice and they worked great. So if you want a cheaper tire that last long with good performance check it out. I may try the recon or toyo At after these wear out. Only thing i dont like about recon is no snow rating.

@@Dieselman6.7I got Toyo open country on my 4Runner. February will be 3 years minimal wear, quiet, great in the rain and snow. No punctures or flats. Good for mild off-roading. It’ll get you there and back. Not a mud tire but does ok in it. Highly recommend it

I rolled the dice and got the Venom power terra hunter rt's! Even though I heard all the war stories I got em anyways and not an issue! Can't beat em for the price. From what I've read the early production tire molds were the issue, mine balanced perfectly and nice n round. Lol.

@whattha930 I just bought a new truck that has nitto ridge grapplers and I don't like them very much. They're far worse than the AT3Ws. I think it is because the tread compound is so hard. In the rain they spin very easily. Also, I pulled my boat out of a semi steep ramp and I could not move one bit. No algae or anything, just a wet ramp. I had to put it in 4x4 to get going. The Falkens never gave me a single problem and gripped very well in all conditions but they wore fast

@@trevoralexander7080 Good to know, I’m currently browsing. I’m comparing the Wildpeaks to Duratracs but it’s probably not a fair comparison. I went from an eco boost to a hemi and it’s got a lot more pop off the drop. I got 160k out of my first set of Duratracs on my F150 and probably could have gotten a lot more if I was more diligent with rotations and repairing worn out linkage. My 2nd set on the same truck started scalloping at around 30k but probably from said issues that I still hadn’t tended to. I’m probably gonna give them another shot, they’ve got new editions coming out soon, R/Ts not A/Ts now.

I e had two sets of the gone now nitto Tera grapplers and got 60k miles and moved them down to another trk. I was told they no longer made. I’ve got the ridge grapplers on my ram 3500 now not as happy with the look but seems to be going well.

The Baja Boss is available in either an AT or MT. We don't sell Mickey Thompson tires unless a customer specifically requests them (i.e. we don't recommend them) because we have had much higher than average numbers of them with high road force, and complaints of them becoming very loud while they still have significant tread left

I have Sailun Terramax At3 275/55LT20 10ply tires on my 2020 Ram 1500 Longhorn and I am impressed by them. They have been great in snow and ice, mud, gravel and pavement. I have almost 50,000 km's (32k miles and they are still like new. A little more noisier than the Bridgestones that they replaced but overall a much better tire and my fuel mileage is about the same. I've had Goodyear wranglers, Cooper AT3 (complete junk), and Hankook all terrains on other 1/2tons and they've been better than those, although I didn't drive the Hankooks in the snow or ice as the truck that they were on was stolen and written off. They were considerably less expensive than all the other tires. If you get test them out, I recommend that you do so. I live in Manitoba up in Canada, so I don't know if they are sold in the US. You really need to look at the new sleeper. The BFG HD Terrains. Made for 1 ton + trucks with a hard compound and built to handle the torque of our motors. Hands down the best hybrid tire for commercial heavy duty trucks!

@@MountZionOffroad I did say “Commercial heavy duty trucks” but I am currently running them on my 21 Ram 3500 ranch rig and they are hands down, the best tires I have ever run. I have run Falkins-BFG-Coopers & Toyos. None lasted more than 15k miles with my heavy hauling & gravel roads. These tires are now at 23k miles on my truck with a ton of tread still left! I would put money down on them lasting 40k, easily.

Just like a semi tire. You can patch the inside & plug the outside. Not an issue. That repair isn't recommended if the intrusion is close to either sidewall ridge.

I just picked up the new Falken Wildpeak AT4W and it absolutely is the best AT tire! I don’t know how they managed to make a new rubber compound harder but yet absorb bumps so well. Also, I drive in absolute rain monsoon going 80 mph and it felt like I was driving in dry conditions. I am blown away honestly. Oh and they are the most quiet AT.

I just bought the wild peak at3w for my tacoma, which is my hunting truck. Getting mounted today. The Nissan frontier that my wife and I use day-to-day has Bfg KO2s and I've been exceptionally happy with them (but they suck on ice). Context: I'm a data engineer who is equally in Costco parking lots and waaaay out in the woods where you need satellite comms. I'd say I'm a near perfect example of in-town driving and true off roading.

Nitto EXO Grappler AWT is a hybrid tire they are not quiet thou they howl a little bit especially when you get some kilometers on them. I was looking at the Yokohamas when Nitto has/had a tire shortage. The Yokos are not 3peak rated. The Toyo AT tires are awful in the snow its the one Toyo model I wouldn't buy. The M55 and C/T are decent tires noisy yes.

I’d probably say the Toyo Open Country AT3 (mentioned in this video), BFG KO2’s, or the Falkens. You honestly can’t go wrong with any of the ones he mentioned for what you have in mind. If I were choosing tires for a commuter/weekend warrior it would be a TOUGH call between either the Toyos or the Falkens for me personally. Honestly it’s gonna come down to the size of tire I want and what I can get the best price on.

For exploring off road in Florida we have a lot of sugar sand. Then with the rainy season, it can get a but mushy. Which would handle the sands better...of course aired down a bit if needed?

Of these, the Ridge or Recon Grappler would probably work best. However it sounds like a more aggressive tire like a mud terrain might be better if you're not doing a ton of highway miles and long trips with the vehicle.

Goodyear duratracs my man. I’m from Florida too and there is no better tire for our sand and mud without going full m/t. They are aggressive for an a/t but quiet on the highway. Also I got 75k miles out of my last set.
