Impact drivers are nice for changing blades. I used to choke the blades with a piece of wood, crawl down and wrench on the bolt with a ratchet till it would come loose. Impact drill has turned that whole process into a 5 second ordeal where the bolt zips in and out without a choke. With how much I change and sharpen blades I went way too long without one.

This is a really good point. I def should have included an impact as a must have! Maybe a part two!

I use a baby sledge hammer to hammer yard staples into cardboard. I put down cardboard before covering it with mulch. Also use that reciprocating saw for cutting up the cardboard boxes into pieces to use. I'm just a home gardener but have found that in order to save strength (I'm a 75 year old woman), it really helps to have the best tools. I try to stay off my knees as much as possible.

No hula hoe??? Here in PHX I’ve made thousands off that tool. I guess in the Midwest or east coast it wouldn’t be as applicable though. Works great for my properties (mostly rock and xeriscaped)

Last year I traded out my trash can for a tarp. It's worked out great on my properties. I also run those Echo 225's. They are affordable, lightweight and all the power I need for trimming grass. I've been getting about 2.5 years out of them.

I definitely use tarps as well, however we put debris into trash bags instead of throwing it in our trailer. The trash cans help with that and keep the truck and trailers from getting so messy during the day.
@M3MAX

@@FloridaTurfPros I use my tarp to drag debris around on a property instead of a trash can. Easier for me to pull stuff than pick it up and haul with a trash can. Most of my properties I service I can hide debris on site or leave for the city to pick up. I still sometimes use my heavy duty trash can but that square trash can looks like a better option for debris that can be raked into it compared to a circular trash can.

I'm sorry, but 2-wheeled wheel barrows are for beginners. Jackson makes an excellent heavy duty wheel barrow (single wheel) with a flat free tire that can stand up to the abuse of landscaping. I hate nothing more than a 2-wheeled wheel barrow. It's impossible to pivot around a corner and through a gate. It's like a motorcycle, you can lean the barrow and turn corners instead of the operator having to shuffle sideways to make the corner. Once you gain the forearm strength and learn how to properly use a wheel barrow you will learn you can navigate terrain so much easier and faster.

I stick with one wheelers because we mulch a lot of beds that's are really deep and the 2 wheelers won't let you push up in between plants. Maybe the solution is one of each...

Battery Reciprocating saw for me. I also have a hand held chainsaw which can't fit or go in places the reciprocating saw can, plus the recipro is multipurpose. blades are cheaper than chains which can't cut in dirt

We have been using echo PAS for years. We use the bigger echo unit as the pas225 doesn't hold up to the punishment we give it on large commercial properties. Bigger fuel tank too. Weedeater to hedge trimmer to pole saw to edger. Saves time. Definitely agree on the 2 wheel wheelbarrows too.

The pitch fork is a tool I didn't have for so long. I seen a local lawncare professional installing mulch and while watching, I felt so stupid. I was sitting in truck waiting on wife while she was shopping. It is truly one tool I missed when I started.

dumpster bag works great for leaves, has handles to drag, or if super heavy can be hooked to mower and dragged. Thicker than a tarp, so lasts longer and doesn't get torn as easilyl.

Hey Jonathan, do you make people go weekly throughout a certain time of the year and then switch to biweekly? If so, how do you schedule and price that?

@FloridaTurfPros This is very interesting, I think the difference in our location may be the difference. I'm about to drop 90% of my biweekly accounts next season. The market I'm in has more weekly than I can cut. That's what made me come to this conclusion.
@xxKURTMANxx
@xxKURTMANxx Жыл бұрын
@@FloridaTurfPros and if they don’t go to weekly when needed jack up biweekly prices or drop them?
@DylanDickson2
@DylanDickson2 Жыл бұрын
@@xxKURTMANxx I think you just have to be honest with the clients. In growing periods reach out to the clients who are bi-weekly and explain that during the faster growing periods they either need to move to weekly or have a small price increase for the fortnightly visits. From my experience most people will just pay the extra price range. How much you increase the price depends on how much extra time the jobs are going to take now the weather is warmer and things are picking up. A price increase of 10-20% is suitable for us depending on property size. It's hard to give more specific advice to anyone as there are grass species differences, regional weather ect... but just be honest with yourself and your clients and see what response they give you.
