Living in a condo I don't have an outdoor place to store my Lipo batteries. So I store them in Lipo bags placed inside a 2 gallon Storage Cabinet made for Hazardous/Flammable materials. It's the yellow cabinets you usually see in an industrial factory. I also have Fire Blankets I can easily place over a battery to suppress a battery fire. Might sound like I'm paranoid but I live in a condo building and a bunch of people's lives are at risk if something happens to my batteries.

Good on you. Great advice. Ebikes and e scooters with lipo batteries are a huge concern in New York City apartments right now. Hundreds of fires a year

I store my Lipos in a Lipo bag, in an ammo case on my back paver patio that is sheltered from the weather / sun during the summer. Temp might get to 100F a couple times a year. In the winter, I move it to my garage to keep it above 40F or so. Not really sure of a better way.

Good video. You can set the voltage cutoff higher to keep the lipos closer to the 40-80 percent use range. This range will extend the life of your battery and is the prefered range if you do not need full 4.2+ volts for racing or speed runs.
@RCReviewChannel5 ай бұрын
Absolutely!!! 3.6 volt lipo cut-off is a common option on many modern ESC's.

Internal Resistance.... yes. I will test and publish that number, now that I know what it means. Hope I can find some consistencies and conclusions. Lower internal resistance is a sign of quality, reportedly.

I have a couple of Flureon lipos that are 10 years old. They are still kicking. Alternatively, I have a couple of Spektrum Smart batteries that have less than half a dozen runs and they are absolute junk. I have numerous lipos from a variety of brands, and the Spektrum ones are the only ones that are garbage.

Hi Guys and Gals, Great Video good tips! I have tried all the lipos brands have had the best luck with Zees, long run times and super performance and great prices from Amazon ,I ALWAYS charge at 1C (5000 mah battery 5.0 amps or 2200 mah 2.2 amps and etc)and we run a small volt watch with beeper and set to to 3.80 volts per cell, we all run 2s 5000 mah 80C in our 1/10 Crawlers when your battery gets to 3.80 volts per cell the beeper goes off and your at storage mode perfect keeps your battery's in great shape, I never depend on a LVC in the factory crawlers there just to inconsistent for me from storage mode 3.80 volts per cell, trust me volt watch with a beeper is the way to go we all you use XT60 connectors, it works great been doing this for a long long time LOL

Hello RCReview. I'm new to the RC car hobby and not sure I want to keep lipos inside the house. Wondering if I could store Lipos outside in a grill? Maybe in a Ziploc bag for added protection from humidity and weather on storage charge. What are your thoughts on this? Outside can be upper 90s and humid during summer? Will they puff?

Hey huge fan of you and your content/channel. Have a question for you. I currently live in an apartment and I just got an Axial scx24 BUT I want to replace the ESC/receiver and battery because I don't want to risk the stock USB charger and lipo going up in flames especially with my kids here. So my question was could I replace the ESC/receiver from the scx24 with a ESC/receiver from a WPL C64-1? Since the motor plug is the same. Basically turn it into a WPL and use the stock C64-1 battery and radio.

I used to treat my LIPO batteries badly. I had Venom batteries. I charged them wrong, I never even put them into storage mode when I was done. After 7 years they both puffed up. This is completely my fault. I do not do this today. It could be dangerous and it will ruin your LIPO batteries. I wish Venom was still in business. I do still have Venom LIPO that still work. I was wondering if you know of a LIPO battery that will fit the old Tamiya cars? It needs to be shaped like a nicad better. I do have a Venom battery that is like this and it still works. Do you have any ideas about what LIPO battery might fit? Thanks.

That is ok, actually and I would say better than the wildly fluctuating temperatures outside. Just not the freezer. A fridge at about 45-55 degrees will be nice and consistent for the battery.

Few things to add. A fully charged battery will puff up. All that energy HAS to go somewhere. Also ohms law people should know it. Will help ALOt with anything electrical. Also things to note adapters. Any connection point is a potential loss which is made into heat.
@RCReviewChannel5 ай бұрын
I’m not sure I understand. I have dozens of batteries that don’t puff up after dozens of full charges. Puffiness is not related to battery level as I have empty batteries that are puffy
@DadsRCGaragePNW5 ай бұрын
@@RCReviewChannel a fully charged battery left alone will puff up before a battery that’s kept at storage levels. Sorry I missed some words in my message. But ohms law prevails.

The question is how do you get rid of old batteries because you can’t just put them in the trash. And if they can’t be discharged because they are damaged what is the proper way to get rid of them???
@Mikeylikesit19685 ай бұрын
Best buy takes old batteries, they normally have a bin near the entrance
@RCReviewChannel5 ай бұрын
To discharge them, I would say: 1) put the positive and negative wires to drain device like a lightbulb or motor. Let run til dead. 2)Use about 30g of salt per litre of water. Put the battery in the salty water, and leave it somewhere fireproof for two weeks or longer, depending on the original charge. Finally, wrap the battery with paper, and dispose of it at an authorized battery disposal facility. 3) Punch a hole in it with a pellet gun, or a very long pole-nail. This will set the lipo on fire and diffuse all the energy instantly. (danger, danger, careful)

@jeremycravens69735 ай бұрын
I don't believe that if you spend more money you get better batteries. Example, spektrum! I have several spektrum batteries that have craped out on me. The whole battery market is a scam! My oldest and cheapest battery is a $50 6s sundapow from Amazon. Going on 3 years now and has never not charged or any issues. So don't believe that you have to buy the big names to get a good battery!
@RCReviewChannel5 ай бұрын
That is true. I should caveat that into categories. Traxxas and Spektrum and other US brands are much more expensive. But just talking about Chinese brands, if you spend more, you usually get more quality. Almost all lipo cells come from China anyway.
@Mikeylikesit19685 ай бұрын
C ratings are never correct. A 100 c lipo is probably a 30 or 40c in a cheap priced lipo.
@RCReviewChannel5 ай бұрын
There's that too... Lying manufacturers. That being said, once you find a manufacturer yo like, like Zeee batteries, their C ratings will be consistent within their brand and will help the user choose.
