Just got into rocket league, wish I woulda gotten into it way earlier ! It seems so intimidating for new players, but the game does a great job with matchmaking / making your improvements visible. Sure, when I watch these clips that level of control seems unattainable. But when I'm in the game, I always feel the satisfaction that I got a tiny bit better during each session. There's a shockingly low number of games that do this, and do it this well. As long as the game continues to stay fun as I'm learning, I don't mind at all. On the outside, it seems like you just bang your head against a wall for 300+ hours and then finally get some enjoyment - but it really is every single session ending with slight improvements each time.
@DangleSan4 жыл бұрын
As someone who played Real Sports at a high level I'm still shocked that rocket League 5 years in still has so many players who can pull off amazing shots who don't understand proper spacing(I'm DIII BTW) hate to say it I feel like it's mostly American though, couple weeks ago started waking up early and playing a few games in EU they're definitely more about the team game out there, less people going for predictable air an ceiling shots

THANK YOU 🤗🤗🤗 I remember being stuck in gold and silver and looking for resources that targeted players of my level but there was next to nothing there. If i had to change one thing, though, I would argue that constant air roll is a bit of a stretch--which I guess is the point of it in your vid--but in its place I would maybe suggest powersliding (for sharp turns and recoveries) or maybe even double jump aerials (3 variations). I would argue that below Plat1 air roll is most useful as a recovery mechanic, not a shooting mechanic.
@Thanovic4 жыл бұрын
I used this as a video that will help build solid mechanics to take you further. Shooting and learning aerials and air rolling, if you learn them and practice early, can take you a long way. But yes recoveries are equally as important
@heidetermeg4274 жыл бұрын
Great video, Thanovic :) But learning half flips with directional air roll bound to a button first, makes it harder once you're trying to learn them only using the analog stick. Muscle memory and all that.. Having air roll right (let's say) bound to a button is helpful for recovering from a poorly executed half flip tho.

Tip for doing the “advanced” half flip: When you flip diagonally back left or right, just move forwards, the car should orientate itself to normal. You would want to mentally time 1 second or else you will wheelie from doing it early or just fail from doing it too late
@darylsteenkamp4 жыл бұрын
I must say there is a point where you begin to focus less on your own mechanics and more just on general awareness instead (positioing, teammates and opponents, etc..). At this point, your mechanics come into play and improve naturally; almost like instinct as opposed to direct focus on mechanics. I'm not talking flip resets and the like; just an improvement on fundamental mechanics :) Great vids Thanovic, keep it up!

For momentum you should provide crucial info such us: "For example: when you get bumped from any side and your car starts sliding or flying, use jump to gain some height and use air roll in order to align the car to the direction your car is going by the bump and then when you land of your four wheels powerslide a little and turn to the desired direction in order to maintain a little of that speed while going back into the game. That way you'll keep moving without your car coming to a halt when you get bumped" . I had to learn how to drive my car like that the hard way, by analyzing lots of hours of people's gameplay in replays. I haven't seen any guide so far mentioning that particular tip or any other sort of tip with that level of info and that makes me kinda sad. Still your video is a good way to get general guidelines and work on them.

Iv defo seen it mentioned a few times somewhere, maybe virge, but it's also pretty obvious and naturally done if you have car control but sometimes u don't want to jump or even slide and instead back flip for example, if you are being hit towards their side/net while needing to rotate on defense
@TheDrogba7774 жыл бұрын

This helped a lot. I have been playing for 2 months. There’s a lot I haven’t noticed what I need to work on. I mostly practice my airdribbles and air control and dribbles in general. But this video helped a lot.

One of Iowa's training packs was the 1st I ever used. I believe u recommend it. In fact I didn't even know about training packs because when I started on console they didn't exist. So ty for that and ty for all your videos. My biggest issue I have is my teammate. I usually only play with one partner and never with anyone else. Just training packs. But where he was better than i was 6 months ago I've grown so much with the training packs and i find him making silly stupid mistakes. The same mistakes I used to make. Mostly with positioning. And ive tried to compensate by playing more defensive or aggressive but he is CONSTANTLY chasing the ball into corners with me. Or going up for the same aireals I'm trying for. Or knocking me away from goal trying to save the ball and inevitably letting them score. Again I considered it was me at first. And I tried to let him go up for every aireal or chase every ball. But it's no use. One thing I tried was calling my shots. To some success. Saying "I've got the corner, gonna pass stay in front". And since he'll get the goal he listens. This ends up with me consistently getting playmaker and him having 3 or 4 goals. I don't mind so long as we win but all too often the ball will come back field where I'm hanging so when he chases, whiffs, loses control im there to defend. But he always comes and chases it like I said knocking me out of the way or hitting the ball dead on against the sidewall setting the opposite team up for a goal with his perfect "pass". I take the opportunity to augment his playstyle hoping it'll teach me to compensate for when I may get a useless tm. I've started doing 2v2s with randoms and 1v1s only recently. But I prefer playing with my friend who I can chat with and to some degree find a rhythm. So idk. I'm decent. Not great not even really good. But I can consistently maintain ball control, hit 1 in 3 attempts for my air dribbles. Read my opponents fairly well, wave dash etc. All in all a moderate player. I want to grow with my buddy and its very hard to help him do that when he won't watch these types of videos won't do training packs or really listen to advice. So any advice

6months in rocket league. Almost about 90-100 hours in. Just entered Plat-2 and I can feel the difference already. Im not extremely good at dribbling or aerials. Just got here solely because of better rotation and positioning.

Alternative half flip methods: I use both of these but prefer 1 over 2 due to it's ease of use. The standard half flip is still the best to use, but these are fun too. 1: (not as fast but still better than drift 180s) Jump and tilt back more than 90°, then front flip and cancel it. Air roll back to right side up. 2: (not as easy but doesn't require air roll) Do a backwards corner flip and cancel strait forward.
