As an American whose great grandparents are from Kraków and Zołynia, Poland 🇵🇱. I’m accustomed to potato and cheese pierogi, jelly pączki, Kiełbasi, Kiszka, Kobanos, stuffed white fish for Christmas 🎄, mushroom soup, and butter bean soup.

I remember 90' zapiekanka which they were nothing like this. Half of a roll, mushrooms, cheese and low budget ketchup... But this was amazing. Nothing to compare taste.

I always wonder why bagel is called obwarzanek. In north Poland obwarzanek is something totally different. It's food too, but those are a small dough rings and are rather crunchy. I remember those obwarzanki was selling in packs of 10-12, was usually hang on thread.

Grocery stores, supermarkets etc. are closed on Sundays in Poland but restaurants, bars, pubs are always open

Szkoda, że próbowałeś Jedzienia z miasta, domowa kuchnia to jest niebo w gębie :) Try Rosół, zalewajka, ogórki kiszone, kapusta z grochem. I think that you find this food in polish shops in your Country. Greetings from Poland

Jeszcze nie spotkałem się, aby gdzieś w jakiejś jak to określił "fancy" restauracji podawali tatar bez proponowania do tego dobrze schłodzonego, kieliszka wódki. Nie chodzi o to aby się upić. Tatar to teaser/wstęp do dania głównego i ma pobudzić, wszelkie zmysły i kubki smakowe. Najlepiej do tego nadaje się właśnie połączenie tatar + wódka+ gorące i chrupiące pieczywo.

@@wiessiew9853 No, they didn't. The have word dumpling/dumplings. They can say "polish dumplings" and do whatever they want to do with this word, but if they take polish word "pierogi", they must learn how the plural form looks like. We had to adapt "chips", because we don't have our own word. In addition, "chipsy" is not "double plural" form, it's just plural form, because they don't have one.
