I love this structure. For me I need to make these short mental lists/rule sets that I can quickly recall in real-time that can be incorporated into my rolling with greatest chances for success. That said, I’m sure that most teaching theory would tell you to invert the lesson to be more DO’s than DON’Ts, but unless you’re a chimp, either should work. This is my new fav channel for technique and lesson plan material. Keep these “BJJ RUBRICs” coming please. And a huge OSS back at you, Marcos!!! OSSSS!

Some awesome content here. Thanks you so much for sharing. I am a bigger jiu-jitsu player, currently an ultra and i have found Lasso guard a good position especially against faster more athletic opponents. But i am new in exploring this position, I've spent a lot of time working on my half guard. These details have helped me a lot in improving my Lasso Guard. I really liked that you focused on important concepts and do's an don'ts. The details for cross collar gripping to break down posture of a standing opponent has been invaluable.

Just an anecdote, but I relish when guys stand up. I do something called Catapult sweep from Caio Terra. Love this content. Keep it up! Edit: Looked up that the catapult sweep was findable and its not. Other stuff with same name out there. Basically my secondary foot puts shoe laces on the far hip, my secondary arm does a bicep curl on their far foot, so 4 points of control on lasso side, you pin until your temple is against the side of the foot, put your secondary foot on your lasso foot, and you can use both legs to send them flying overhead. End result is some position as regular lasso sweep.

This is great! I recognized right away some of the issues I’ve been encountering. I do have one question. You say never go flat. So, after putting in the lasso you stay on the same side until you’re ready to try and sweep and then pivot to the opposite hip? My mistake is I’ve been going on my side to insert the lasso then going flat. If the person is good they usually pin the non lasso leg and circle to that side
@BIGOSS.JIU-JITSU3 жыл бұрын
Yes you go from one side to the other when it’s time so sweep, if you stay flat you lose the time and leverage, so you have to keep your knee on the shoulder and try to keep you bottom leg free like I was saying on this video. Big Mistake is let them control those strong points. Big Oss

The mistakes are: 1- Don't go flat, stay on the side with your knee close to the shoulder 2- Always keep the second grip on his hand or his collar 3- Keep the second leg free, you can use it to sweep or recover your position 4- If he stand up dont keep idle with the same grips, keep changing fast

5 - Don’t hang on too long on the position, when you’re losing the battle

Could you please show the sweep that you mention when illustrating the idea of not letting them control your bottom leg? You mention you have a favourite sweep to counter them grabbing your leg. BIG OSS

Great video again professor!i am a lasso guard player and I got everything from your videos but now I am in the situation that I want to transition from lasso to another guard can you tell me what is the best transition do do so in what guard should I go from when I feel like to transition from lasso to another guard???
@BIGOSS.JIU-JITSU3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, using lasso to transition to another game is the easiest thing to do, one thing you have to do is know what game game you want to connect to from the lasso, understand ? If doesn’t work connect what they give to you Big Oss
@skillforce34833 жыл бұрын
@@BIGOSS.JIU-JITSU can you tell me what your transition is when u feeling like to do so or when the opponent forces you too? I like x guard do yu think i can go from lasso to x guard is it viable thanks for the fast answer

@@skillforce3483 100% you can everytime the person stands up you can transition to Single leg X or full X Guard its one of my favorite connections from there, fits just perfect BIG OSS i will Make a video soon about transitions Stay tuned Thank you once again
