Great tips! Taking your camera with you everywhere. This is where a camera bag can be underrated compared to a new fancy camera. When I got a comfortable sling bag that made it easier to take my camera everywhere, I did. Taking it a step further, keep an everyday carry (EDC) camera bag that’s packed and ready to go at all times. Put it in a place that’s visible and easy to grab as you head out. The easier you make it to carry your camera, the more you’ll do it. After doing a photo shoot, I’ll do a mental debrief of what worked and didn’t work. With the latter, I’ll search KZbin for solutions. Then take the lessons I learn into future shoots. I really should write down and document those lessons. Just too lazy 😅

I always go for the used market. Got XT5 as a second hand purchase for only 1,500 USD. It retails in my country for 2000 USD. And it was only less than month old. And it came with an extra Small Rig L grip. That’s what I usually check - the extra upgrades and accessories that come with buying second hand items. :)

Yeah I’ve gotten so many free batteries thrown in with used cameras, or like that battery grip with the S1R too!

What I love the most is when you were talking about how you shot and shot with the 5D classic. Related,I've MOSTLY conquered my GAS by saying I want to work my skull off with my Fuji X-T5 and use it til it crumbles to dust. Buuuuut, I ordered a Nikon D800 and a 50mm just to scratch the "I don't know what I'm missing with only APS-C cameras" itch. (But then, I'm done. Forever. That's it. - We both know I'm lying, Matthew.)

Having recently returned to full frame I can assure you the improvement is pretty impressive, but the D800 is a heavy camera so I think its good to have both it and the X-T5, keep the X-T5 as a travel and take anywhere camera and the fat D800 for when you want the best IQ and that full frame DOF! Also, there is nothing like shooting through an actual mirror with a DSLR, its sooo much nicer then any EVF I’ve ever used haha (Yes I’m helping you justify your GAS)

My recent improvement is simply to “reset” my settings after some shots. Maybe I drop down to f16 for a sun-star shot. Okay, back to f2.8 afterward so I don’t take more shots at f16 by accident.
