I have not read any non fiction books for quite a bit. Must hunt for something , I enjoy historical biographies, the etta lemon sounds like a really great read 👍📚♥️

I enjoy Nonfiction November, too. I try to read nonfiction sprinkled throughout the year, but don’t read nearly enough. I love there is a month devoted to it. I have 5 nonfiction books picked out for November. However, two of my priorities are Come, Tell Me How You Live by Agatha Christie and How to Be Perfect by Michael Schur. So, I’ll feel successful if I get to them. 🎉 Nice Nonfiction TBR, especially the Poe and Dickens book. 📚

I had forgotten that Mrs Pankhurst's Purple Feather by Tessa Boase had a changed title since it was published. Glad that you could find it anyway, waiting for your thoughts about it! I'm always reading nonfiction, so I don't think that it necessarily fits the prompts but I'm hoping to read The Notebook A History of Thinking on Paper by Roland Allen. That biography about L.M. Montgomery looks interesting

Interesting picks! I have a couple only TBR so we will see if I actually get to them, not using the word prompts.

I used to read a lot more nonfiction, but in the last few years I've seemed to gravitate more to fiction and golden age mysteries. I started the biography of Vincent Price, written by his daughter, ages ago, but never made much progress. This time of year would be very fitting to pick it back up.

I LOVE Edgar Allen Poe! Started reading his works I. 7th grade. My parents were really worried about me... HA! I had no idea there were museums dedicated to him! Hope I get there someday. I have many bks. on his life and remember the codes were mentioned. There is A really good children's story regarding Poe by AVI. I'm sorry, can't remember the name. He reluctantly, mainly helps a little boy looking for his sister and mother. They all sound good Mitzi, thanks!

I am planning to participate in Nonfiction November. The Gladys Taber book sounds perfect - I paused the video and ordered a used copy. I am also intrigued by your other picks so they may get added to my TBR too.

Those sound good to great. I hope to read The Only Plane in the Sky for nonfiction November. I had it scheduled for September but I just couldn’t read it then. I have a bit of PTSD from that day because of my personal experience.

I was able to borrow the Etta Lemon book from Kindle Unlimited. I will also be reading a book by Linda Ronstadt and Lawrence Downes. I believe it is entitled Feels Like Home. It has been in my library for several years. I need to read this while she still lives. Books about the living brings me great joy. Especially when they are about people I have admired throughout the years. Thank you.

I recently finished Gulf: the Making of an American Sea by Davis (it's a Pulitzer winner) and in the book it discusses the history of bird feathers being used for hats and the combat against the practice to save birds. The book overall is fascinating

I think your non fiction choices work with the prompts! I have some history books that l plan to read in November written by one of my favourite historians Katja Hoyer.

Mitzi, good luck with your non-ficiton TBR. I don't know much about Edgar Allen Poe so I googled him and found out he died very young. There was various opinions of why he died. Interesting, huh? I am doing some non-fiction in November too but just stuff off of my shelf.

I'm currently reading Dickensland. It's not one hundred percent what i expected but it's fascinating. I'm not actively participating in non fiction November as far as the prompts go, but I'm reading a few non fiction selections in November on purpose.

At first I thought Especially Father might be the book that the movie Life with Father (William Powell, Irene Dunne) was based on, but it's not. Life with Father was originally by Clarence Day written about his father. Love the movie though. I wonder how those two books might compare?

❤📚📚❤️ Your book choices sound very interesting. With all the challenges in November I'm trying to participate in, I'm just reading one nonfiction. I choose the Path prompt and will be reading a book off my shelves I've owned and not read yet. Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed.

@starlasell5698 Cheryl's writing style is very evocative, so I enjoyed the book on that level, but there is just something so frustrating about people who blindly wander into the woods and probably wouldn't make it without the kindness of strangers. It definitely reminded me of Into the Wild. There is also a movie based on the book starring Reese Witherspoon.

Mitzi, I forgot to ask you how things are going in N. Carolina (know you are in S. Carolina); due to the first hurricane. I saw a video the other night and it still looks horrid and people still enduring horrible hardship. Do you know if that is true?
@mitzireadsandwrites

Yes, that is true. We are basically back to work in my area, still a few issues and oh my goodness so much cleanup still left, but up above us it's just horrible since many of the homes we just swept away.

Oh dear. I love Gladys Taber, but Especially Father was, well, dreadful. Her father was a total control-freak and a grouch and I've never understood why Gladys found him wonderful. Please don't let that book influence the way you think about Gladys--it's totally different than her Stillmeadow books (if you DNF it, no one will blame you. I've belonged to Gladys groups and many fans cringe at that book.). A much better Gladys book to begin with is The Stillmeadow Road. It's Gladys at her best. Happy reading days to you in your non-fiction November! :)

Oh no!! Well, I must say I read Eden's Outcast and it's a favorite book because I learned so much about Louisa May Alcott's dad who was, well, not father of the year. 😂I was just shocked by it and it still is one I think about!! Thanks for giving me a heads up!! I have several Taber books, so I won't stop there.
