I really like Levy using the expression "participating in the game" when talking about pieces, it helps me to think in such a way in my games as well, I like that expression a lot more than "piece activity". When deciding about whether to make this or that pawn break, whether to open or close the position, whether to launch an attack or not, how I will be able to defend, with which pawn to recapture and when maneuvring the pieces I like to think about which pieces will participate in the game as a result of my move, or I come up with plans that would lead to more of my pieces participating in the game while trying to make the least amount of my opponent's pieces participating in the game. The expression "participating in the game" also makes you question whether a piece which looks good is actually doing anything or is it just hanging in the void.

This was so instructive, in low elo games you're just featuring mistakes that at my level, 1500, I obviously don't make that often, in high elo game, you're featuring some plans that need minutes of calculation and that I can't apply on my rapid games, this is the type of content I've always wanted you to feed me with, thank you !

Part of me feels this should be a series in and out of itself. Seeing that many brilliant moves in one game is crazy! It would be a rarity though as the chances of playing that many brilliant moves in one game is very unlikely especially at lower level. Though higher level has a better chance but still very rare.

18:28 "To get five brilliant moves your opponent needs to do some really disastrous stuff"... actually, I think the opponent needs to play fairly well, otherwise the first brilliant move will lead to mate or at least totally winning position, and the next four will never happen. Heck, when I do 'disastrous stuff' there's no brilliant move needed to mate me, just take the queen I just hung and go from there :)

i found a chess game with 21 brilliant moves, used to be 30. 1 brilliant bishop sacrifice in the beginning for white, and 29 brilliant moves black played to force a stalemate while down 3 pawns in an endgame. truly an insane chess game.
