Every report at its core, seeks to provide insight into summary values like counts, averages, minimums, maximums - and far more. Measures are Power BI's way of pre-defining the formulas appropriate for the specific data.
Having a core set of measures defined for a semantic model empowers end-users by allowing them to use and re-use the calculations over their data - with ease.
We'll create a couple of measures that get us started, and then we'll build on them and add many more in future videos.
Opportunity Count =
COUNTROWS(Opportunities)
and
Revenue Open = CALCULATE(
SUM(Opportunities[estimatedvalue_base]),
Opportunities[statecode] = 0 )
This is a multi-part series where I show you how to create a Self-Service Semantic Model in Fabric, following the best practices to maximize the benefits for your users. I'm breaking it down into easy-to-follow steps allowing you to either follow with my example model or build your own.
