You should make a video where you guess which card is more expensive and have different lifelines. The lifelines could be 1: being told how many reprints each card has. 2: what the price of one of the cards is. 3: if one of the cards was ever a staple.

finding common/uncommons that skyrocket it prices after their rotation is always nice Rivals of Ixalan has several; Pitiless Plunderer, Curious Obsession, Reckless Rage. close to 25$ in 3 uncommons a big bonus if the card is 'something you'd draft if you saw it' you could have 10-20 copies of it

I miss the days when Wheel of Fortune was only 8-ish dollars, Lotus Petals were 50 cents, and Tabernacles were $27. I know the current prices of these cards so it's not an actual surprise but I remember when they were so surprisingly cheap.

@@Crunchatize_Me_Senpai Supply is too low and fees are too high. Meaning many rare variants are not available at all and prices for these can be truly unreasonable. Prices across all cards are quite high. Uploading pictures of the actual card or requesting such pictures is rarely done. No additional description for the specific card. Which sucks for signed or altered cards. It also sucks when a highend vintage card has to be rated poor due to water damage, but is tournament legal, and looks minty in a sleeve. Why is there an LGS involved? On cardmarket, everyone can sell. If you have cards to sell, you can make an account and sell them directly, or you can offload them all to a dealer who will buy any card. In the USA, you only have the second option, which sucks. Just compare the websites.

When I first started playing Magic I went and bought some of the older set. I started around the first Kamigawa set. I found some Prophecy packs and got about 6 packs because they were dirt cheap. In 5 of those packs I got this neat common called Rhystic Study. Thought nothing about it for years. Then Commander got big and Rhystic Study shot up in price. Went from like less than a dollar to over $30! You never know when cards are going to be become super expensive.

For me Deadly Dispute was the most surprising (especially before the reprint). It was a common still in Standard and still being printed and was at over 3€.

One card price I was surprised by recently is talisman of progress, I wanted to buy one for my Aminatou edh deck, and figured it wouldn't be too expensive because all the other talismans are at most $5, however talsiman of progress is $13 for some reason. Also, I am curious why some of the talismans have been reprinted multiple times, and some of them have only ever been printed in Mirrodin.

Many of them have come reprinted in the commander pre-cons, while for whatever inexplicable reason Progress has not. That will change eventually and it will tank the value so just wait on it in the meantime 😂

The reason people play whims of volrath is because it can target lands. In orvar it's essentially like a blue ramp spell with buyback. Also, after you make 2 copies of the sapphire medallion (which they always do) then it just makes infinite islands. Wow, so much fun.

I was playing magic in the 90's (4th edition, Homelands, Ice Age, all that crap). And I restarted my magic life three years ago. I was of course browsing my older cards from the 90's for some amazing money value. But nothing seemed to have been there. It literally took my one whole year to realize that I really do have an old Alliances version of Force Of Will in my stack. Oh, my goodness! That was an uncommon back then and is today one of the most important cards in the modern format.

I eventually decided against it was during a time where I transitioned from kitchen magic to more competitive deckbuilding - and figured a playset of Goblin Lackey would definitely be the better option, haha.

I've always figured that squelching leeches would have a higher price with commander. It's got the ability to sneak in as a very powerful creature but it doesn't have a particularly good tribal backing. Combine it with lightning greaves or akromas memorial though and you're smashing things up the turn you cast it.

Wow, I wish I still had my Whim of Volrath from my old Zedruu EDH deck. Used it to switch what color my leeches taxed before giving them to opponents that couldn't make the mana to pay the tax, made people really angry.

Whim of Volrath has tons of applications in Orvar, it's easily tutorable and enables like a 100 combo lines. For example you can spellseeker for it, copy spellseeker for sth else. You can copy any permanent, not just creatures, so if you have let's say Sapphire Medallion, you can copy that and make the buyback free, combine it with high tide and... ta daa... infinite islands. It's basically the centerpiece of the deck

It wasn't mentioned with Orvar, but Whim can target your own lands, and Orvar makes copies of those lands, so for 3, make a copy of any land you control....

I...I have like 50 Utopia Sprawl. I opened 2 boxes of Dissention back in the day, and it was my favorite art on any common in the set, so I would constantly have people throw a copy of it into random trades just because I liked it (my favorite art of the set as a whole was Grand Arbiter Augustin IV...but that's a rare), and my LGS had a commons box for a nickel a piece...I bought like 10 copies of it there for $0.50. I have 3 foils too...

For a recent example, i am beyond happy that i was able to pick up 4 copies of fable of the mirror breaker before the price went crazy. I got 4 with shipping for just under $5. I was really surprised by how cheap the card was for what it did. Geuss i wasn't the only one that thought that haha

Someone is messing with old reserved list korean cards. Used to be comparable in price to japanese and chinese. Now korean is simply unavailable or 2-3 times the price. Its a huge pain if you want to build global sets (meaning you collect all printings, all language versions of a card). Another price that shocked me is the judge reward Wheel of Fortune. Crazy price jump.

Razaketh is practically limitless search in certain decks, so it's very much a no-brainer on it being pricey. And it's a mythic, so it's not like it's an uncommon with a decent effect that's pricey.

I was just looking to buy a whim of volrath, theres another one that comes back from discarding a land thats like 1 USD I want to use it with lifeforce and deathgrip theres also a creature that gives enchantments cumulative upkeep but only works with white but this way you can kill both the rhythm study and the smothering tithe. niche but fun

Judge Reward foil Wheel of Fortune - That is a crazy price spike. A while back i was toying with the idea of getting one for 600, many available, seemed too expensive, i purchased mox diamond instead. Now its 1900, only 4 available, WTF, you can buy a Bazaar of Baghdad for that price. If the last 4 also go, we are in unlimited Mox price territory.

7th Ed foils are actually really rare. they didn't do it in each booster pack compared today. also they come in black border which was not the norm in reprint sets back then

@@exxonrcg one foil in 6-7 packs, and 7th was low print run. 7th had no new cards, unlike todays core sets. So if you started around 4th or 5th and then purchased regular expansions as they came, you had no reason to touch 7th at all.

yes supply and demand. chase cards have high demand and the supply of the other rares just overwhelm their demand and price tanks

The EV of the box will always trend down toward the cost of the box. If the EV is higher, people will crack the boxes and sell singles. Once they can no longer make money cracking the box, they stop. Keep in mind this only applies when boxes are in print. As soon as you can't get them at distributor price, the box price jumps and eclipses any remaining difference between EV and the cost of the box. Then you apply what the other guy said to see why the other cards tank so hard.

The low angle of the camera shot on this show is uneasy. Lower the neon light on the wall, the logo doesn’t have to be in EVERY SHOT. the wide can be further away.
