Catherine penny One of the biggest regular coinage coins in the history of Russia were so-called "Catherine copper coin." The weight of the coin is 51 grams. We can not say that it was the largest coin, so copper coin of Elizabeth were the same weight and size, and ring pyataks years 1802-1810 were also weighing 51 grams, and the regional Siberian gold coins were even harder. But Catherine coppers were struck such a huge circulation, which today are found almost in every garden, and the number of found treasures with these coins is estimated several dozen every year. For many people, far from the coins, copper coin has a home mini-collections. Accidentally found on the road or in the garden large coin one would not leave anyone indifferent. I myself am not particularly interested in the coins of this period, but I have a couple of bins in different copper coin mints available. By design, these coins do not differ from the "Elizabethan dimes." The obverse depicts a double-headed eagle - the emblem of the Russian Empire, under the eagle denomination written words "five kopeek." The reverse occupies a central place the monogram of Catherine II placed in the crown of vegetation. Edge has been of two types - mesh or braid.
