Being a Ducati owner. I always fit an Oberon clutch slave for a lighter action. I agree with all your other picks, except the levers. I have a set of ASVs on my bike - the inch-plus span adjustment means you can tailor them exactly to your grip. And the fold-up 'unbreakable' part of the lever actually works as I found out to my embarrassment when the bike toppled over onto the clutch side in the garage. 🥴 But, agreed, I definitely wouldn't fit generic, no-name, Amazon clones.

In fact most bikes I know have adjustable brake lever. OEM Clutch levers although are not adjustable in most cases. So actually both are right - almost all motorcycles have adjustable (brake) lever and almost all have non-adjustable (clutch) lever. I prefer good aftermarket levers exactly for that reason as I have rather small hands and the OEM levers often are less comfortable and lack adjustability. Though I don't like the short ones but there are good length-adjustable or long aftermarket ones too. Also the flip-up ones might also be of benefit if you're planning to tip over your bike and might prevent breaking them in some cases (not all though). Also I have seen some OEM ones breaking off the complete lever as of lacking factory breakage points while good aftermarket levers often are designed to break off at the tip only so you can sill ride home. I agree that as a general recommendation using OEM is always safe and ensures quality. So not trying to change anybodies mind here. However if you order off e-bay you might just get "OEM style" levers which are not OEM but cheap aftermarket ones too. With questionable quality. The most safe way to assure you're getting OEM quality is to order them via dealership but at least in my countr ythis is usually even more expensive as ordering good aftermarket ones. And also not to forget: In some countries (like here) you need to get approved levers and you need to get them registered to use them legally on the road. At least for the brake lever this is true in my local country. Clutch lever is not to be approved officially. So this is why you see some bikes here with aftermarket (adjustable) clutch lever while using the OEM (adjustable) brake lever. Fully road legal, both adjustable. Safe.

They worked fine for a week or so until one day at about 40mph i hit the brake and when i let off, the lever didnt. Brakes stayed hard on and dragged the bike down to an abrupt stop in the middle of the road. It was pure luck that it was a small quiet road and it wasnt all that fast but it could have been much worse.

I agree the Chinese knock off ebay special levers are junk. The quality name brand ones work really well.

The easiest mod I did that made the biggest difference was a new seat. I bought the bike new, but the stock seat looked and felt cheap. The biggest change I made was redoing the rear end, and it looks good, but I definitely could have made better choices.

I have a ZX6R and I went cheap putting Dunlop on it. 😅 it’s will spin its rear tire no problem. I am looking to put a set of monsters on my CB900 ❤ and hope for the best in the ZX6R 😅

I'm one of the few not against Spite on the levers. I have long fingers though so I've never had to reach or anything. Distance has never been an issue and if I felt like it was, I'd change the pair of fingers I use accordingly. But again, I've been blessed with long fingers so Ive never needed to.

Swapping out rubber hydraulic lines with braided stainless has been the most rewarding mod I have done. Many of my bikes have beed vintage, so my time is spent de lousing the sins of the former owner, and maintenance, maintenance, maintenance.

I second that nelson rigg bag. Super convenient, super high quality.

First thing I always swap are the grips. They are the connection between you and the bars. Most OEM ones are horrible feeling

I picked up an ‘06 F4i last summer. What turn signals did you go with for front and rear? Those are about the only things I want to change.

heated grips are something I want to get for my motos. I don't mind aftermarket levers as long as they are ones that are meant for the bike. Mirrors are something I like to mess around with as well. as for the suspension I will need to look into that a bit more since I have a good amount of miles on them and one was set up for someone about 60 lbs lighter than me. good tips. cheers.

Aftermarket adjustable levers are a gift from the Lord for my small hands.
@MrThecyrille347 ай бұрын
levers is usually the first thing i do. i have quite small hands and for me on my hornet and my R6 (both 2001 models) the clutch lever was too far for me so i put on after market ones puig are good levers made in spain and they have the same feel as the original levers. they design their levers adapters specifically for the bike and then you simply bolt the lever in place on the adapter.

Centre stand if there isn't one on the bike already and fork braces to sharpen up the handling if the bike is getting on a bit. also new pads/discs/oils/fluids etc

Great video, just a quick question. Is it necessary to have belly pan cover underneath on any naked motorcycle? I put it on my 800nk and it looks so much better. But just the look. I don't know if that's useful or just to look good. 😅

It's always about ergos for me. I leave everything stock, maybe I'll add bar raisers, maybe I'll put on a better shock, since so many rear shocks are cheap, even on Japanese bikes these days. Handling and comfort, that's all I'll ever change. If it ain't broke, I ain't going to fix it. Maybe some paint protection on the tank. Heated grips, maybe. I won't be throwing away a good stock part.

I agree with you personally on the levers, the OEM levers on my R6 were way better feeling than the aftermarket ones that came on it. But it was a super cheap chinese brand, I'm not sure how higher quality like ASV would feel. Levers don't actually do anything to improve performance, but they can improve feel for personal preference like if you have smaller hands or just don't want longer levers I could see aftermarket being an improvement. Still don't get ebay or amazon levers.

An aftermarket brake lever can not let the brake master cylinder operate correctly and lock up your front brake, It happened to me, totally agree, don't change your levers..!!!

I partially agree on levers, but not really. I guess I agree in that I’ve ridden some bikes that truly just didn’t need aftermarket levers, and it just felt good. But I’ve also had bikes that absolutely suck with the stock levers. Is it necessary? Not for me, but it’s certainly a very nice upgrade in functionality and usability. Cheap levers are garbage all around, stock levers are hit and miss, quality aftermarket levers can be a very nice upgrade depending on the bike. But nobody is going to convince me that across the board, aftermarket turn signals are a better investment than quality aftermarket levers

Spite I have a question for you, bikes at the moment get you wet covered in crap from the road. Should mudguards come back. I ken does not look up to date, but who cares when you ride all year. What do you think. I live in Scotland so a little wetter then where you are. Love the show.
