Parents are barely older than the kid, and the boy is the man of the house with a single mother and siblings trying to take care of them. It not ideal but its reality. They go through life in a NOW not later mentality, so you can't blame them for not wanting to wait to get paid when other schools will allow them to. It should not have to fall on teenagers to take care of their families but that's just how the chips fall. Prime comes from the same situation.

I like NIL money being available to players.. I also hope many kids that are leaving HS don't miss a great opportunity because of the "RIGHT NOW MONEY". There are lots of great programs and coaches.. and I know a lot of kids will be looking to go of the biggest bag.. although it may not be the best fit for their career.. For example a running back may go GA, BAMA.. etc.. but it may be 3 years before they get to step on the field because of the depth the school may have at the position.. but they "promise" of some NIL.. may limit their ability to showcase their talents.. At the base level it's take a promised payout for X and run the high risk of being virtually anonymous regardless of how good you are or take no promise of initial $, but be at a spot that will both develop and grow your brand to the point you will turn you into a known commodity in sporting America. As far as NIL these younger people need to understand that you're one injury away from ending your college career as an athlete and colleges and universities would be foolish to invest in a high school player not proven. What's going to end up happening with many high school athletes is because they lack overall discipline and restraint they are going to miss their blessings because "Greed" will not allow you to make the right moves. Being young and not having much life experiences when people are watching how you move can become your worst-case scenario!!!

So, coaches and universities DO NOT pay the players. Companies and businesses looking to use players’ names, images, and likenesses in advertising and brand appearances approach the players DIRECTLY to offer them NIL deals. They will offer the deals to the popular players bcz these players have a large media/social media following and these companies direct their ads to that player’s followers. Coach Prime is not the one to pay these players. Now, it goes without question that Coach Prime can use his influence and relationships to call a company up and ask them to give a player an NIL deal but why would he do that before the player shows what he can do on a college level???
