The real reason X-men 50 is doing so well is because years ago I listened to or accidentally sold my copy and it stays high so that I cannot get another copy. That’s the simple reason. The Comic Gods don’t want me to ever have it again. That’s it. 😢

Great show today - I had no idea that the cover on the McFarlane Batman 423 had that missing Sun area. Damn - I have the CGC 9.6 McFarlane Signed issue and unfortunately he did not fill that in with yellow. That would def be a “Chefs Kiss”. Thanks again Bry!!!

GPA is a horrible user experience but is somehow the gold standard. It’s horrible to navigate and way too difficult to find books. I’d much rather just use GoCollect but everyone bases on GPA 🤷‍♂️

Great video. It goes to show that certain books are worth chasing even in a down market. Punch 12 is a book I doubt I will ever own, way above my weight class, but the other books are one’s I have had, or still have, or are in striking distance. I think Eerie 1 was not on the collective radar for a long time but now, in part thanks to being show cased on various media streams plus the overall increase in interest in PCH, is squarely in the sights of many collectors.

There’s always helpful information and unique perspectives on this channel… i have always found it interesting to see what kinds of oddities and rarities tickle the collective fancy of the marketplace. Also appreciate that you don’t knock people for getting low valuebooks slabbed. Sometimes these things have sentimental value that supersedes any dollar amount you could put on a book or on the grading service itself. Thanks Brian!

I have a really nice presenting copy of X-Men 50, but the top staple is detached. I would love to send it in to a Steranko signing....if he ever does another one. But I'm also worried about it coming completely detached. I know having one staple detached may or may not get it the green label (which I would love to avoid), so I have both feet planted firmly in the air on this one. What would you guys do? Send to CGC? Wait for Steranko signing? Given staple issue, key raw Thanks in advance.

Depending on the detachment, sometimes it can be reattached…I’d reach out to some pressers on IG that do that type of thing. Might be cost prohibitive for that book tho…you can always request it doesn’t get a green label and just a lower blue

I think you're correct about the cool cover and something key converging to have staying power but, unpopular opinion ahead, I think Batman 423 is overrated and AFAIK has no key significance. And I say this as a TMac fan.

With Batman #227, you also have to factor in the death of Neal adams in 2022. With his passing, you now have a finite supply of his work. With a capped supply, the demand will go up.

One of the first graded books I got in 2023 was X-Men #50 at 9.0 for $500. Next I got a Batman 423 SS which I sold to Bry, then I got a 227! Feel fortunate that I've picked some winners.
