So much math to consider when submitting. Even at next-to-nothing values, enough of them in a row can be painful.

Another fantastic video, Bry! I always appreciate how much passion and effort you put into your content-it’s clear you genuinely care about the comic community and sharing valuable insights. The way you broke down cracking & re-pressing was so well done and really got me thinking about it. Your knowledge of the market and your tips for collectors are always spot-on. It’s refreshing to see someone who balances investment advice with a love for the stories and artwork that make comics so special. Thanks for continuing to provide such high-quality content-I’m already looking forward to the next video! Keep up the amazing work!

CCS, the pressing company CGC uses, is terrible. You are forced to use them if the book has been signed, or like in this case, a pedigree, to retain the signature series and pedigree label status. But they give me the feeling they are press and done. No attention to details, no attention to certain defects that need fixing, nothing.

They're a great video Bry! I have mostly stayed out of the CDC game. I'm going mostly Raw.I have a strategy behind it. With that being said, I still watch the market for CgC to see where everything is and how price they're going up and down the controversies etc. so thank you for explaining the CPR as well as some other great facts about this. I guess when I get ready to do CDC I'm a research research research and research again so thank you

I bought an ASM 252 newsstand raw at a 7.5, cleaned/pressed/submitted it and got a 9.6. I saw a few other defects and was tempted to CPR it, but waited until the CGC signing with Tom Defalco and Ron Frenz. I CPR’d it and got a 9.8 dual sig. Shortly after I traded it for an Avengers 4 CGC 5.5 with many pressable defects. I was fortunate to turn an all in investment of about $350 to a roughly 2k book with room to grow. WITH THAT SAID, I will be waiting for the market to turn around before repeating the process.

I bought a raw ASM 252 newsstand 7.5, cleaned/pressed/submitted it and got a 9.6. Saw a few more flaws, waited to cpr, then took the chance during a CGC signing of Ron Frenz and Tom Defalco. CPR’d the book, got it to a 9.8 dual signed. Shortly after I was able to trade with a dealer for an Avengers 4 CGC 5.5 with many pressable defects. I was fortunate to turn a $350 total investment into a roughly 2k book with room to get more. WITH THAT SAID, I will definitely be waiting till the market turns around before repeating the process.

This video post made me realize that I probably want to just keep my books raw and not pay those CGC fees. I had no idea the cost was this high. Wow 😮 - I have never submitted a book for grading and I probably never will. (My 67 age might come into play here). Your video was enlightening to say the least. Thanks again Bry

Not to mention all the original art. Guillermo Del Toro's house was spared but he mentioned getting out some select art works just in case, but not all of it. His home is like a museum and I am sure his isn't the only one.

Man being an investor is like timing the stock market. One movie or series can increase or decrease the value of a comic. Who would have thought the "funny books" would hold that much swing.

I recently purchased a slabbed book that hadn't been cleaned or pressed and when I shared it online one of the first posts was that I should crack it. I really looked the book over and weighed the fees and figured it wouldn't be worth it at this time unless I just wanted a 4.0 to get maybe a 4.5 or 5.0 for my own collection. It looks like the book in your video is someone taking a gamble that didn't pan out. In different conditions it might have been well worth the cost and effort. People like to gamble though, I mean Las Vegas is built upon things not panning out.
@BrysComics23 сағат бұрын
Absolutely, I like to gamble within reason myself. Maybe they just got cold feet having so much money tied up…

4 percent for pressing?! Are you kidding me?! Guarantee they are doing nothing more than I can do with my $150 press at home. Those should be flat fees…same as grading. Tiers for age of book is fine, but basing fees on value is just a con.

another crack/resubmit scenario... you could have a 9.4 worth say 10k with some non-color breaking spine ticks. Crack it, iron out the ticks and the book is perfect. Send it in, they drop it, now it's an 8.0 worth $100. Anything is possible. Get insurance if you can?
@BrysComicsКүн бұрын
True. I don’t think there’s an insurance for cpr, unless they damaged the book

@dankocher35286 сағат бұрын
Removing that sticker is a travesty. It's part of the history of the pedigree. The kids were making sense out of the Batman appearances not coinciding with the issue numbers of Detective Comics. These were the oldest books in the collection and likely the first that these kids owned, and that sticker gives invaluable insight into their collecting mindset. Removing the sticker slices off a piece of history.
