The curtain to correct the Feng Shui is usually thick to block the view and create a screen. And it is better the light does not pass through. But you can always open the curtain when needed for fresh air. It is still flexible. Don't have to close the curtain all the time.

Thank you so much! Your remedies are far more helpful than any I have found. I have been searching for an answer to my problem and can't seem to find it. My door faces in North which is my unlucky direction. I rent and my door is red like a dark burgundy red. I know red as a badd color for a North facing door. You know of shade matters though. The problem is I can't change the color. I know there's gotta be some kind of fix and actually had one article that actually said there was but I could not track down an answer. Add some curtain/screen/tall furniture between the front and back door to slow the Qi down. Try to make sure the water (faucet?) flows into the house and not out of the house. If the mirror is directly facing a door or hallway, maybe cover with fabric when not using. Hope it helps.

A door facing the stairs is not ideal. You can add curtain at the door to block the view of stairs, or add more lighting to brighten the energy. You can also add natural crystals or 5 emperor's coins to raise the Qi here.

I found this to be very helpful! I live in an apartment complex and when I open my door I see my neighbors door and a staircase going up left to right and it's sort of close like 3 feet from my face. They offer security doors and I think I'll have them put one of those on and add I'm outside cure as well.

A folding screen will work, or any wall-like structure that can block the view. A piece of tall furniture or cabinet will work too.

I just moved into a house where a chinese family used to live. They left red papers with golden letters stuck to the door entrance and two little branches (mini log looking) hanging on the door. What does those branches mean?

I am not sure about branches. It might be just for decoration. Many Chinese tape "Chinese new year lucky words" on the door and sometimes don't bother taking it down after new year. It might be just lucky words such as "spring", "prosperity" or similar poetry. They are usually black or gold on red papers.

If you can not change the location of the bathroom, see if the space is big enough for adding a screen or curtain to block the view of the restroom door. At least, keep the restroom door closed most of the time, and keep the restroom clean and fresh.

If the house facing direction is different from the door facing, house facing direction is usually more important in most Feng Shui schools. The coins we can buy today are over 90% fake. It is ok to use the mass-produced one.

A front door facing the wall is not bad Feng Shui. You can set up something welcoming in front of the wall such as paintings of landscape or flowers. You can also add lighting, plants, water fountain, or crystals to enhance the Qi.
