5 Cons of Interlocking Locs

Thanks for the regular uploads. Agree all methods have pros and cons. Thoughts: 1. Agree. In my experience the interlocks take LONGER to mature because of the “stretch” in the loop. But I enjoy the illusion 💕 2. All methods done incorrectly have potential to damage hair. This isn’t unique to interlock. 3. Limpness: When done correctly interlock don’t look thin and limp. It’s all about giving enough space for the hair to expand between loops (which means leaving a centimeter or 2 loose between scalp and the last loop. Don’t interlock too often because you keep tightening the gap between the loop where the hair would have fluffed up. Interlocked hair takes longer to bud so don’t rush maintenance. Lastly, all maintenance methods (except crochet) look limp when overdone. Fresh retwists look limp too for the duration of the hold. 4. AGREE 😂 5. YUP! Hair is crazy expensive these days.

Wini, yes I know exactly what you mean in point 3, interlocking made my look locs look very thin too which I didn’t like at all. I no longer have locs as I found towards the front part of my hair started to thin out. In hindsight now, I think it was hormonal and it has thickened up a bit post locs but not how it used to be.

Yeah, i personally didn't like the thin look on myself, at all. Yeah I have also experienced thinning over the years too, and shared my journey with that, over the years. I am happy to hear that your hair has thickened up a bit❤️
