What are the advantages over a gimbal? As I already have a gimbal, I'm wondering whether it makes sense. I can already attach filters and lenses with the appropriate accessories.

Thanks for your question. Using a gimbal will definitely overall give you more stable results. However if your going for that natural handheld look using a rig with dual handle will help you achieve that. You also have more freedom in movement and the leaning curve is smaller. Also you are much quicker grabbing shots while still having stability. Hope that helped :)

what brand of lenses and filters fit those small rig mounts. Moment T series lenses are good quality compared to the M mount. Does the Freewell lens and filter fit with it? liked the Brandon Li with his signature one. unfortunately, I use Galaxy s22 with a smallig universal cage with 2 side handles with Bluetooth buttons. I have a small rig with many accessories, as well as Ulanzi and Telesin(mostly for Gopro). both small rig and Ulanzi, Telesin are high-quality stuff.

Oh did not even know they made one. It looks similar to the previous Generation of SmallRigs cage (the one for the iPhone 14 Pro Max). I would have to take a closer look at it. But what I can see so far is that it’s missing the bluetooth shutter and quick release mounting system for the handle which I appreciate for a more compact and versatile setup. I think the backplate snap function is great on the neewer, not having to screw it off.

I have a universal one, a previous version with handles, and a battery bank holder for a galaxy phone. This one has a different mechanism to hold the phone. Just yesterday, I ordered the rig case without accessories. I like smallrig accessories and have some more from this company

Love this cage. The quick release handles were a great upgrade. I have the older rigs and the screw handles were a pain. I use a MagSafe wallet to hold my Crucial X9 4Tb SSD to the front of the iPhone to keep the size small. The BMC app is a game changer and love it also. Good review and insights.

My only concern about all these form fit “cages” is their lack of future compatibility. Get a new phone? Buy a new cage. Lather, rinse, and repeat. So I would be interested in the other SmallRig cage you showed at the end of this review. Thank you for another very complete review!

The filter does not fly off after several installations? ))))) What happens after you insert the filter mount about 20-50 times? ;) I have a previous cage with the exact same M-mount and it’s already loose after 10 times! This cage looks beautiful in advertising but is very unreliable to use!
