Wow. This is horrifying to watch for someone who has to wear glasses and contacts. The reason they are hurting them so bad is because they kept dropping them and getting their makeup all over them. That means the contacts had dust/dirt/makeup residue all over them. Yes, I'm sure they rinsed them with solution (I hope), but as a contact user I know that doesn't get everything off. This was painful to watch.

hey! I got contacts today, how do you know if you put your contact in backwards, I put in my left contact and it hurts slightly, but I don't think I should take it out.

+Sarah bamberger if you put the contact in inside out then you will probably see the glare of lights and it might feel a little awkward sitting on your eye. Before you put your contact in make sure the sides point straight upward and not flare. If it flares you need to flip it the other way. If your contact hurts your eye, take it out and rinse it with contact solution and start over

u did it wrong... you're supposed to leave them overnight soaking in contact lens solution in a contact lens case, and then use your middle finger to stretch the bottom of your eyelid, look up and then put the contact in. if the contact falls put it back into the contact solution. always make sure the contact is wet and not dry also make sure that there is no fun or makeup on your face or hands or the contact. I have the blue cat eye contacts and I also have them in yellow. I am using the blue ones for my Tim Burton's Cheshire cat Halloween costume.

This is so frustrating. It is SO easy to search for info on how to PROPERLY put on and take off contact lenses. Damn, this is your job guys, do your research and at least warn people what you are doing wrong. Yikes. Putting on contacts like the third girl is not safe, it could squeeze into the side completely hiding the contacts pushing it further to the back...(same with the middle one trying to slide it to the side to take it off) that would require surgery to remove it. ;_; Good lawd.

I don't know how it is in america, but in Vienna you use a liquid to store the lenses and another one to clean them before putting them on. Maybe thats why it burned, because they didn't clean lenses before, because the liquid to store them burns and you have to wash it out before.

The reason they should put the lenses on BEFORE makeup is so that they don't get makeup all over the lens from their fingers like that - I can't imagine how much grit and gunk would be on those from the false lashes and glue and mascara and shadow and ... OUCH. No wonder it hurts... they should be properly rinsed each time they touch something that isn't their eyeball, or else it is just picking up crap from whatever it was on to deposit right onto your eyeball with the lens - which of course, then is going to mash it in even more uncomfortably if you successfully insert it at that point. No way I'd ever attempt to put my lenses in while wearing false lashes and tons of makeup like that. if I had to reinsert them, it would be a matter of taking off all the makeup first just to start with a clean area around the eye and fingers to begin with. then redo the stuff after the lens is in again. Getting bits of mascara or lash fiber in there is NOT a fun way to start the day....

+UpRoaryus I wear contacts for cosmetic reasons only, and I HATE when I start putting my makeup on and realize that I've forgotten to put my lenses in. If they were prescription, that probably wouldn't happen (because I'd notice that everything was blurry. LOL) But I'll usually just stop, sanitize my hands, and pop them in. If I've already done my eye makeup, the contacts are getting skipped that day. Putting them in after is just a crazy concept to me.

You guys must have great eyesight if you've never had contacts. I've worn contacts for 15 years since I was 10. That's not how I was told to put in regular contacts. After washing my hands, I put the contact on my right index finger, pull my top eyelid up with the index & middle fingers of my left hand, pull bottom eyelid slightly down with right middle finger, and put the contact right over the center part of the eye (the colored part of your eye). Wipe away any excess solution that may leak out like tears. No blinking to center the contact necessary. But I guess if that way works for you... Also, I've always read that you are supposed to see the eye doctor before using any sort of colored contact lens to get the proper prescription or dimensions to make sure it will fit your eye properly. FYI- with soft contact lenses, you are supposed to put make-up on after you put your contacts in. That way you don't have any residual dirt on your fingers and your eye make-up won't smudge.

You really should've added a disclaimer that wearing contacts without having been to an optometrist is super, super bad. NEVER wear any contacts before contacting a specialist. You don 't know what thickness, diameter etc. you need. And NEVER put in contacts with makeup on. And always wash hands before touching contacts or you'll get all your hand germs in your eyes. Nothing of what they are doing in the video is safe. I may wear contacts, but I prefer glasses. Being -6 and -7, I kinda don 't have a choice and most coloured contacts don't even come in the strength I need so there's that. And no, contacts can't "go to the back of your eye" - there is a place where the lid is attached to the eye itself so anything going to the back of your eye is impossible.

Their eyes could have gotten infected from the contacts touching their mascara & eyeshadow (bacteria grows quicker than you think...), the contacts could have rolled in the back of the eye (it had happened to my friend's mom once, & she ACTUALLY had to go into surgery just to remove it. She said the pain of it rolling into the back of her eye was incredible), they didn't take it out properly & could have cut their eyeball with their nails (you have to pinch the middle of the contact, NOT using your fingernails, but using your finger *tips.* Then just pull it out), & they didn't even clean it with solution (even though they had it RIGHT there on the table) when it dropped, when they took it out of the case, & when they took it out from their eyeball. If you're putting something into your EYEBALLS which you have NEVER done before, at least do some research!

This was so painful to watch!! Protip to anyone putting in contacts, do NOT put makeup on before you put your contacts in, that's probably why their eyes were as irritated as they were. That and always make sure your hands are clean before sticking contacts in your eyes because particles from clothing ect will stick to your fingers and then the contacts and make them extremely irritated. Also a good company that sells a huge variety of contacts is PinkyParadise. They have all types of colors and lens options if you know your prescription. Be careful with your eyes, you only have one pair and doing things like this can really damage them if you aren't careful. That being said Lily did look really good with the blue cat eye lens.

They only hurt when you have them in because they either had dirt, hair or any other substance on them from you dropping them and handling them for so long. OR they were inside out. You can tell if they're inside out by putting them on the tip of your finger and holding it up so you can get a good side view of it, if it looks like a bowl and is not straight on the sides, then it's good, but if it is straight and or curved outward slightly then it is inside out. To get them out of your eye put your finger on it, look up, drag it down, and just pinch it while your still looking up (you'll be able to feel it) and just pull it off! To store them put them in a regular contact case with contact solution (not the cheap kind, the cheap kind will not moisturize the lenses). When putting them away, put them in the center of your palm and squirt come of the contact solution and rub them lightly, then rinse them with the contact solution, fill the case up with the solution, and cap the case!

It was about a year into me wearing contacts (wore them for 7 years before switching back to glasses because of finances) and the one morning my one eye was hurting so bad. Blinking, looking around, even just closing them normally. My father took me to an eye specialist and we found out that my cornea got scratched ... by a grain of sand ... when I rubbed my eye. The doctor had put a yellow dye in the eye to see the cut (even I could see it in a mirror). It was so small and just this little cut gave me so much pain when my contacts sat on it. I couldn't wear my contacts for a week while putting stuff in my eye to help repair the cut. BONUS: Normally people who don't wear contacts would never find out about these tiny cut. When the wind blows, tiny grains of sand get into your eye ... the grit or sleep in the corner of your eyes in the morning is literally sand, dirt and makeup that got stuck to your eye during the day. When you sleep, your eye moves around, rubbing itself against your closed eyelid, cleaning itself ... Which is another reason why you should never sleep with contacts (once or twice can be forgiven). Since your eye does the whole cleaning thing as night, it rubs against the contact lens instead, literally shaving away your cornea. Although I'm pretty sure you can't go blind from this, it can seriously damage your eyes.

Well they have never put contacts in. It's always hard the first few times.

I love this video, I have watched it way too much. I love watching you guys try to put them in. I know its hard for the first few trys, and then it gets easy. I can now put contacts in without a mirror, with very little trouble, but I will forever remember the tough times.
