Thanks mate. We talked about this in another of your videos. That Pinch tech, is still somewhat hard to get. Muscle memory muscle, muscle memory. This video is perfect to link up with your fader in slow-mo video. Thanks ones again :)

Yeah man I've been cutting with my weak hand on fader and it's really hard to get! Once you get the timing though it's great

When you drag the two fingers it's a two finger crab. A Twiddle is when you are tapping fader open with two fingers like in the Faita style. Big difference! Thanks for teaching me about Faita! I always knew Rafik used two fingers like that but didn't know it had a name!

@@SiHargreaves kind of got this down a bit but its hard , bassicly thumb on the bottom of the fader then do a circle motion and drag fingers across the top of the fader towards the opposite side of the mixer ...it hurts though 😂 i have small hands so this might he better with longer fingers ... Verdict - not worth it tbh its doesn't add anything new

Si - your videos are class! I’m double clicking flares with my thumb rather than fingers. Is that still pincer style? Struggling to get up to fast speeds - not holding fader right??
@SiHargreaves

Does that mean you're hamster style? Film a vid and post it somewhere mate.

@@SiHargreaves no mate i’m normal - kzbin.infoUq97dO2EqyA?si=hAtHsdWyHva1supt I was putting way too much emphasis on the thumb - relearnt them though to coincide with boomerangs/Autobahn A6. Dropped you a message on digital vertigo too 🙌🏻

I can do a similar type of technique that DJ rafi? Does but I only use my index and middle finger. Can go hella fast but have to learn to do it non robot style. Lol.

Good Video. I have Always wondered ''Why'' we have not released a Mixer with a Button for Left and Right Deck instead of/as well as/ a Crossfader as you have stated when Scratching we essentially just use the Crossfader as an on/off Button for the Deck anyway. Having a Nice Chunky tactile Button a bit like Drum Machine/Performance Pads on DDJ1000 ect. DJ Gear has come a long way since the first Mixers especially now with Digital i find it kinda strange how everything else has been rewritten to make use of Technology(Phase how cool is that) but we still have not tried anything different than the Crossfader?

There uses to be mixers like this dude like 20 + years ago , Gemini and numark had mixes that had a button either side of fader that turned sound on and off
@djimma5080

Look for numark m3 mixer it had transform buttons either side of crossfader , the only problem is you quite limited with them compared to the crossfader

Apologies for the noob question, but is "hamster" using your left hand?
@SiHargreaves
@SiHargreaves 3 жыл бұрын
Ah no (puts new video on the list of videos to make). It's where the fader is switched around to be the other way round. Most mixers have a hamster switch to acheive this. But you can achieve the same effect by putting your turntables into the opposite channel on your mixer. (left in right, and right in left)... Make sense?
@killito12

@@SiHargreaves Ah right I see. So how do you achieve the scratch techniques you described in this video if it's hamster?! Use your thumb instead of index/middle fingers and vice-versa?

Is it ok for biceps on the fader hand to be burning yet still sounding like ar$e whilst crabbin'....
@SiHargreaves

lol, sounds pretty standard to me mate. I've been cutting with my hands 'the wrong way round' and have been reminded recently of how hard it is to get your hands to do what you want them to at first. It gets easier though, you just have to drill those movements!

What you've got listed as fuitas are proper twiddles, aren't they? Fuitas you click twice with each finger don't you (tap index twice tap middle twice or at least in the Ever that's how they were and i think Ruck invented them)? I call what you did as twiddles two fingered crabs. HOORAY SEMANTICS!

@@SiHargreaves Erk, didn't mean to be that guy, but I think I am right, i got the sound files for it somewhere and it sounded like 4 clicks on that rather than the 2 you'd get from yours from that if memory serves. I seem to remember the ruck sayings something about them on a board back in the day which sounded like what i was saying.

I always thought I was a 1,2 1,2 1,2 1,2 vs 12, 12 , 12 , 12 if you get what I mean like it have two techniques for twiddles one my fingers are straight down and I get like a rolling pattern with my fingers then with my write more down I get like two finger crab rake that adds a pause that's the difference for me
