I had already designed how I wanted my custom layouts to "look," but how to make them WORK was completely different. This video taught me how to make them work. It bodes to help make my streaming a LOT simpler and LOOK better. Using your methods, Stream Deck, and a couple of macros helped make my stream look and work much better. Kirk, that was a great video. Thanks for sharing. 🙏 Perhaps you can help clarify one point that got me confused, but I think I got it straightened out... I want to make sure I'm not missing something (which is very possible 😂)... and I'm sure there may be others in the same boat. From what I can see through my efforts the "Save new layout" is ONLY saving the location of the camera slots. So, in practical terms, the slide deck always needs to be loaded, added to the stream, and on the correct slide to work. For example, if you are in the middle of a stream, and want to change from your 2-person layout to a 3-person layout, TWO steps are needed. You have to choose the "mod 3 person layout" button AND manually change the slide to the correct slide for the 3-person layout? I kept expecting the background image would save in the custom layout... it was driving me nuts... 😂 Or did I miss something? Thanks so much. Mike.
@egrizzly2476 ай бұрын
I was fighting with that same thing. Drove me bananas!. It's a StreamYard thing though. That functionality is not there yet to save BOTH the background image used to create the layout in addition to the camera positions. A work-around I found (not perfect) was to pause the recording/stream for 5 seconds and switch to the desired Layout/Background. Saves you post-prod hassle of firing up the vid editor, finding the place where you switched layout/backgrounds, editing them out, then republishing the video 😫

@kirkrnugent10 күн бұрын
First let me apologize for not getting back to you sooner. Not sure what happened but I missed this one. In response to your first question: you said you added a PNG... that's what's taking up the Media slot, you don't add a PNG there, it would be added as an Overlay or Background. In the Media slot you would add your presentation or screen share. For your second question: You can definitely do that but you'll have to add them as overlays and be sure to change them manually every time you add or remove cameras from the screen. Having those designs in the background make it more manageable... Once streamyard releases Scenes it will be much easier to design these things as we want.

thanks so much for the comment and support of the channel. I made media slot background a PDF so that I can change easily when I’m changing layouts

@@kirkrnugent this is the same problem that i'm having just like @JayMcDonough....

@@kirkrnugent what do you mean by you made the mediaslot a .PDF? are you referring the the .pdf file we attached as slides?
@kirkrnugent Жыл бұрын
@@SxMCommunityTV Yes. I made the custom layout have a media slot as the first layer so essentially that is the background and yes I’m adding a PDF to the studio which the custom layout automatically grabs so it’s in the background. Jays comment is that he can’t change them both at the same time and I confirmed that is correct, you must change layout and the pdf page separately. Is that what you are experiencing as well? That wasn’t clear from your earlier comment.

@@kirkrnugent Amen, well, basically i didn't see you doing that in your video, so was not aware that i have to change the slide manually (was no mention of it manually) to adjust to the camera's layout, but yes, looking at it from that angle, it's the same problem that i'm experiencing. Then my next question to you will be, how would i achieve making that change over during a live? Changing both camera/slide, without viewers noticing.

If you customize your background can you still use them is you go back to the free version??

No i don’t believe you can

Does this work with remote guests?
@kirkrnugent11 ай бұрын
Absolutely! You can add a second camera for yourself but you can have 1 or many guests in those other slots. Hopefully this is a good base that you can build on to meet your needs.

How do you have a third camera ?
@kirkrnugent3 ай бұрын
@@BeatsbyLonza thank you for the comment and support of the channel. I think in this video I just added my laptop as a guest which has a camera connected to it. But you can add a third camera on the same machine using the guest link and an incognito window as well. Are you familiar with that method?

@ awesome. Thanks I’ll try that out

I think i followed the Tutorial step by step, but i'm probably missing a step, once i create 1st custom lay as per directions, i then go one and create the 2nd one, but what then happens is then the 1st one now changes to the 2nd one, and if i then crates a 3rd one, then all 3 changes to the 3rd one, seems like something happen, that the 1st, 2nd ones are not holding their page number of the pdf, it just dynamically adjust to what ever .pdf slide page is created the last, or which ever page is selected at the moment - it goes for all the layouts (btw, i'm testing with the free version of SY, don't know if that makes a difference) or maybe, SY has changed their layout not to allow this feature no longer?

Hard to explain in text, I’ll be sure to go over this on todays Live Show - Coaching Corner. We’ll go live at Noon CST. If you’re not able to make it I’ll come back and Poe the link here so you can watch the replay

@@kirkrnugent Thanks, i got online to late, you were already talking to the guest, thanks for taking your time out to explain, i will keep playing with it, i also made the purchase to see if the issue was the free version, however no matter how much i follow you steps, step by step, the same issue keeps coming back, the SLIDES pages (what i previously called the .pdf) are not moving along with the custom layouts. So, if I add Slide #1, to CustomLayout #1, Save that, then i see the jump backwards to the previous Layout, i then goto CustomLayout #1, Press Edit (pencil), then change to Slide2, adjust the camera slots to Slide2. then press save, change the name to CustomLayout #2, Press Save (not update) then i see the jump back to Custom Layout #1. Now is where the problem starts. If i go now to Custom Layout #1, i see the cameraslots get adjusted, as configured, but with Slide #2 in the backgroud, if i then goes to CustomLayout #2, this remains intact with Slide #, but go back to CustomrLayout #1, Still remains with Slide #2, it never changes back to Slide #1. And this continues with every custom layout i make, all previous CustomLayouts retains the Last Slide that was used, the custom layouts never retains the Slide # that was attached to it when saved... I have no clue what i'm missing or doing wrong, as i followed step by step, will keep trying 😅 thanks for your time and effort
