Man’s best friend helping out in the only way they can, through their amazing sense of smell, how sweet, and heartbreaking at once. So sad for the families of those found. Many may never be accounted for, never found, the saddest for the families of the missing.

Don't forget to mention that all cops are angels. After 3 straight days of cutting down fallen trees and packing food and supplies to folks stranded I was totally chewed out but a cop with a chip on his shoulder who was as nasty and filled with hate as he could be. I am 76 years old and worked non stop clearing paths and packing fresh water for many folks but this guy just wanted to chew someone out. Sherriff Carmine would be ashamed of this crummy cop. I will keep helping who I can but I wish this dude would chill out and let us long times help who they can. This cop couldn't have been more nasty or threatening.

I love when people chime in their advice about the dogs needing to search attics,etc. The dogs are only going to react to human scents and I can assure you.....6 days of someone being deceased, you could pick up the scent of death from the end of the driveway.

How many rescue crews and dogs do they have? It doesn't appear to be very many considering the mass of houses and condos to be searched. Many elderly may not have evacuated. My aunt was not found for almost 4 days and close to death. She has lived on FMB for 50+ years and never evacuated b4. There's alot like her on the island. Feeling helpless that more can be done!!! How many ppl and dogs are searching????

@@nevaeha4048 I'm just wondering how many search & rescue people are operating on FMB not counting the ones that arrived yesterday. From the drone videos there didn't seem to be very many. From my experience with locals on fmb alot would've stayed so the more search teams the better for these folks. I'm still wondering if national guard is on FMB. Someone said they were but yet to see news/video about it. Also, how come so few news reporters allowed on beach. The road was cleared shortly after storm, again this is info from drone footage. Approximately how many ppl are actively doing the searching b4 it's too late. Alot of ppl, including myself, have been in the dark bc of no cable/internet and need some real facts!!

Why people does not take warnings seriously is behind my understand!!! They don't understand that are not only put themselves in jeopardy by those who are sent to rescue them! Winds over 100 miles/hour nothing stands, add water to it and it is total disaster! I am sorry for all the lost lives!!!

Every human who lives on water should by law have life boats and vests for this reason. Humans are not meant to live on water. Mother nature keeps trying to tell us this. Sad it's so beautiful and so dangerous .

I agree or a shelter built especially for the island
@mikelemoine4267
@mikelemoine4267 2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, life boat or vest would not have helped most people on these barrier islands. Boats were chewed up by the violent surge and anyone in the water would likely drown due to the massive waves continually going over them, even with a vest. If they manage not to drown, they would likely be cut up by debris in the water, crushed by boats or cars or electrocuted by falling power lines. Flying debris like 2x4 roof framing is found sticking out of the side of buildings like arrows. The only way to survive a storm like this is to evacuate far enough inland to escape the storm surge. People sometimes don't want to evacuate as it can be a hassle due to traffic, cost of hotels or inconvenience of public shelters, especially when it's possible that it will pass by without hitting. This footage reminds us of why we should not gamble when it comes to getting out of the way of such powerful storms.
