I just found your channel. Coincidentally I just stayed in the Hilton Hawaiian Village and the Sheraton Kauai resort back to back. I’ve also stayed at both resorts in the past so I thought I’d give you my thoughts. Both these resorts have issues. For the money there are better resorts on Oahu and Kauai respectively. The Rainbow tower is in pretty bad shape with small rooms and a lot of stuff that doesn’t work. The Grand Waikikian where we stayed this time is much better. The timeshares at the HHV are much better than the hotel and are usually available as hotel rentals. Yes, its always crowded here., however there are several good swimming pools including an adult only pool. We didn’t make it to that one. As you’ve said there are many stores, restaurants and activities, but they are expensive. The Luau at the HHV, I forgot what they call it is very good. You sit around a raised stage and there isn’t a bad seat in the house. I think its a little unfair to criticize the parking and traffic there. Traffic is terrible throughout Waikiki. IMHO its a mistake to rent a car for a stay in Waikiki. Large taxis and Uber XL’s are plentiful and reasonably priced. As for the Sheraton Kauai, we got caught up in the labor day strike which totally ruined our experience, but even before the strike, it was clear this place had its issues. For the money, the rooms are small, and we too had trouble making room for our luggage even though there were only two of us. For the first time within memory we had no microwave in our room. When we complained about it, we were told that there is a ten dollar a night fee to add a microwave. Even Motel 6 has microwaves !. Not that it mattered to me, but the TV’s were the smallest I’ve seen in a very long time. The pools are unremarkable. You also have to cross a public street to get from one part of the resort to another. Thats annoying at best, but we had to deal with pickets marching up and down the street. FYI we are currently staying at the Hilton Kings Land on the Big Island. Compared to the other two, this is a palace.

Thank you for this feedback and the insight on both resorts. I'm so sorry you had to deal with that at the Sheraton, that would be quite frustrating. I totally agree with you on the luggage at the Sheraton but I didn't have or notice any of the other issues. Once again I could be looking through rose colored glasses due to my experience at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. It is nice to know that the other towers are way nicer thanks for the input. We did a lot of travelling around so we thought a rental was necessary, especially with our 8 pieces of luggage. Thanks for all the help. Safe Travels

Great place, but our favorite is Koloa Landing just down the street. While no direct beach access they have the best pool in the country perhaps, and the rooms are simply amazing with full size washer/dryer, impeccable service and just amazing grounds! Plus they often have stay 4 get 5th night free which makes it pretty even with price of the Sheraton!

That sounds amazing. I wish I would have known. I have seen other ppl state how amazing that place is though

Haha- chaos in Waikiki. Why we go to Kauai every year. Always stay at Koloa Landing, not beachfront but all rooms have a kitchen and up to 4 bedrooms. And the pools!!!

Koloa landing in Oahu or Kauai? Thanks for the tip

I love Kauai but live on Oahu. It is a beautiful island but you must know they roll up the roads after dark. If you're young and want night life Oahu is your choice. If you want peace and quiet there is no better island than Kauai.

@@cinccave5459 well said and living there must be such a unique experience. Thank you for the insight

Several individuals have expressed confusion regarding parking arrangements. Can you confirm if this is accurate?
@detailedtraveler3 ай бұрын
@@laurentran1341 parking at the Sheraton is free and there is a large parking lot down by where our room was. There is a smaller parking lot down at the other end of the resort. We never had any issues finding a spot. I wouldn't waste money on valet parking at this resort
