Last year, we spent 5 days trekking through some of the most incredible mountain scenery in the world, on the Mardi Himal trek in Nepal.
Starting in the town of Pokhara - the gateway to the Annapurna region of the Himalayas - we spend the next 5 days trekking 50 kilometres (31 miles) through the foothills, eventually gaining over 3000 metres (9800 feet) in elevation to reach High Camp below the Mardi Himal Base Camp.
This is everything we experienced as we trekked up through both rainforest and snow, spending 5 days staying at teahouses in the mountains of Nepal. Join our awesome journey into the Annapurnas, and see exactly what to expect on a long trek like this into the Himalayas of Nepal.

Who are Dani and Brenna?
@daniandbrenna
Originally from London, England, we quit our “normal” lives in 2017 to travel the world together.
Starting in Asia, we backpacked our way around the continent for 12 months, before hiking over 1000 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail for 3 months.
Since then, we’ve travelled to over 45 countries together, and embarked on some pretty crazy challenges (including cycling from Seattle to LA on the Pacific Coast Highway)!
We’ve lived in some amazing parts of the world, and together we’ve been slowly ticking off our travel bucket list for over 7 years!
Follow our journey as we explore and experience more - documenting the ups and downs on the way!

I was there in Fall 2015. Mardi BC used to be a little hidden jewel in the foothills of Himalaya back then. Not many hikers. But I hear its crowded to the brim nowadays. Anyways, nice video.

Nice relaxed presented video, easy to follow & good details. Contributing to final decision to do this trail with plenty of options to overnight stay lodges. Primarily don't want to do this on a mission, maybe staying longer at some locations, prospecting the trek over 6 to 7 days enjoying staying longer at forests & mountain views. Safe travels!

Thank you for your sharing. It is really good references for people looking forward to do the same hike. But I always confused and get different information about the need to engage guide. Some people that I communicated with telling me it is mandatory to engage local guide for all hikes in Nepal. But seeing your video and other videos here, I am really confused.

As of April 2023, the Nepal Government has made it mandatory for all trekkers (especially foreigners) to hire a licensed guide, regardless of the trekking area.

Thanks for watching! So we actually did this trek in Feb/March 2023, and it wasn't mandatory when we did it (so we didn't hire a guide).

Due to the weather, the view from the Austrian base camp was not impressive; otherwise, it would have been beautiful. At that time, the locals didn't know how to pronounce "Austrian," so everyone ended up saying "Australians." It was the Austrians who were the first to set up the camp there, hence the name "Austrian camp."
@daniandbrenna
@daniandbrenna 6 ай бұрын
Yeah unfortunately the visibility at the lower elevations wasn’t great when we were there! I didn’t realise that about Australia camp, but that’s fascinating!
