How fun!! I hope to visit Sapporo one day 💕 And yes, do visit Fukuoka, it was my favorite memory visiting Japan
@gleaming81033 ай бұрын
definitely please do. many do the so called "golden route" from tokyo > kyoto > osaka or so. but i rarely hear okinawa or fukuoka as their destination of choice. fukuoka was mys last city to visit and the yatai culture is magical. you sit shoulder to shoulder with the locals and you get to talk with the natives. the yatai owners pour their hearts into their work and i highly appreciated that.

Very nice clip! I love Fukuoka and lived there many years, in Nakasu and Minami ward. Horse sashimi and motsu nabe are great dishes. My favourites were though small yakitori places, despite the smell of charcoal etc. Ramen is ofc a big thing, we lived in the next block to Ichiran headquarters. Also recommended are Matsuya or Yoshinoya beef bowls, the price has not almost changed in 10 years, still 300 yen something with an egg. Japanese curry is also not to be missed, very special and far from Indian curry, Cocos Curry is recommended, a chain. The yatais in Nakasu are extraordinary, but very diverse, some have very good seafood and big shells, others completely different food. If you visit and can not read Japanese, ask someone and explain what you want to eat and you will probably get an advice or look at the display if there is one. They all have cold beer etc, no worries, there are free public toilettes nearby, cleaner than in most western hotels. Saizeriya is good, surprisingly cheap, itameshi food. Also Fukuoka is home to spicy mentaiko, pollock roe with chili. It originated in Korea, but was being made famous from Fukuoka, just as ramen, now a craze all over the world. Yanagawa is pretty and there are so many places where you eat eel - unagi and anago. There is/was also a resto on the eight or ninth floor in Hakata Station that only served grilled eel, excellent. Also an Okinawan resto with surprising dishes with sour gourd and fermented tofu. I do not know if they are still there. Itoshima is pretty by the beach, but not much more, there are some interesting second hand shops. But we went there often from November to April to eat oysters. They set up big tents on the quais with BBQs to grill oysters, squid and other shells. It is very well organized with toilettes etc and there is cold beer. You can also buy take-away, highly recommended at the season. This became long, but maybe someone is interested? Thank you and arigato!

I think I saw your previous vlog in Kyoto but I think you made me love Fukuoka specially Yanagawa and Itoshima. I'm currently planning my first ever trip to Japan and yet I keep finding hidden cities like Yanagawa and Itoshima. Definitely adding it to a future trip.

This is such a sweet comment ♥️ Fukuoka was my favorite region out of the 3 places I visited (Tokyo and Kyoto were the other regions) and it was my first trip to Japan too! Wishing you good luck in planning your first Japan trip ☺️!

Thanks for sharing! We're planning our 2nd trip to Japan (but only for 1 week). Think Fukuoka (and surrounding areas) is worth the commitment? Or maybe somewhere else? (golden triangle already done)
@harroshi10 ай бұрын
I think Fukuoka for your 2nd Japan trip would be amazing and definitely worth the commitment! I enjoyed exploring downtown Fukuoka for yatai hopping and trying all the Tonkotsu ramen I could eat. Then for day trips, you could visit more scenic places like Itoshima, Yanagawa, Dazaifu or even Beppu :)

I would like to visit Nagasaki
@mikaellarsson793216 күн бұрын
Nagasaki is easy to reach from Fukuoka, by train or better by expressway bus. It is a nice city, but very hilly and many restaurants close early in the evening. The atomic bomb museum is very gloomy, as well as the one in Hiroshima.

I lived in Fukuoka for many years, it is a wonderful city. My first visit +20 years ago I stayed in a traditional hotel in Shirogane near Yakuin. It was an amazing experience, but it is now private. I recommend searching for a traditional hotel with futons, tatami mats etc, they do not have to be expensive. Communications are great in Fukuoka, buses, trains, (the densha), subway so an area that seems a bit off is not a problem. Public transport though stop a bit before midnight, the only option after that is taxi. Every evening when I came home to the hotel there was a sandwich and a chu-hi on the table. Later my gf and I rented an apartment in Nakasu, a great place to be.

Hi, may I know how you travelled from Fukuoka to Yaganawa?
@harroshi10 ай бұрын
If I recall correctly, we took the Ninshitetsu Tenjin Omuta line from Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station all the way to Nishitetsu-Yanagawa Station which was almost 1 1/2 hours ☺

@@harroshi yep! Correct, easy from Tenjin.

Love from india 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳 Are there Any popular vegetarian dish in fukuoka ?
@mikaellarsson793216 күн бұрын
vegetarian food in Japan is difficult. Even if it is just vegetables there is often some bonito flakes etc. You have to be very careful when choosing. It is tricky, not like in India.
