I don’t like to/won’t eat the same thing every day. Instead of making the same meal, I’ll make big batches of one thing: rice, GF pasta, chopped lettuce and types of veggies and store them all in individual glass containers. Then, I can mix-and-match all of those elements to make something different, by adding different sauces or other seasonings. So, I can on one day have a warm pasta with sauce and veggies, but the next day eat a cold mix salad with veggies and a little bit of pasta with a vinaigrette, or have warm rice and veggies, and the next day a rice salad with cold veggies and dressing. 😋

I meal prep stir fry for all me lunches. I normally do cereal or oatmeal for breakfast. Easy snacks like popcorn, fruit, and nuts. I make dinner 2 or 3 times a week and eat the leftovers on the other days. I plan on Thursday, shop Friday, and cook Saturday. I've saved so much money by doing this.

Meal prepping saves my life! I'm a Masters student so I don't have a heap of time to spend in the kitchen. I usually make a few different options for dinners and lunches that can be stored in the freezer so all I have to do it microwave them and go! My favourite thing to make in the winter is pumpkin soup, it works out to be around $1.50 a serving (and that's in New Zealand where veges are expensive!). Another firm favourite is a Mexican bean dish that can be used in a heap of different ways (burritos, enchiladas, on rice, as a shepherds pie, in nachos, and many more.) It's the easiest thing to make because you literally just have to chuck a whole bunch of beans and a tin of tomatoes in a big pot, season it how you like (I usually use pre-packaged taco seasoning) and leave it to simmer for 10-15 minutes.

My main question always when I watch these videos, how the food is stored? In freezer? Because after 3 days, its decaying already, and its not healthy and of course the taste will go bad. Not like eating same things through all days. The idea is good to prep meals early, but still 2 questions - how to vary it and how to store it not getting decaying food. For me, the most important is get fresh meal. How tomato is saying fresh, when I cut it on Sunday and eat on 4 days later?

Two equipment that will help with meal prep is to get a rice cooker and a slow cooker. The rice cooker helps you to reduce the stress of worrying the rice while you cook for other components in your recipe. One trick with the rice cooker is to throw in thin slices beef, minced ginger and garlic, and seasonings when the rice is cooked halfway through and results in a one-pot beef steam rice. The slow cooker is to make another one-pot recipe, stew beef, spaghetti sauce w/ meatballs, chick noodle soup and more.

My thing in winter is to make a massive stew on Sunday. Carrots, parsnips, swede, sweet potato, leek, mushroom and some braising steak. Add one cheap bottle of red wine, stock cube, a little chinese 5 spice and two cinnamon sticks. Forget about it in the oven on low heat for a few hours (nap time). Gives me sunday dinner, then I keep two pots int he fridge and freeze three more. So much less hassle, and good if you're trying to up your veg :)

Where did you get the containers? Love that you used chickpeas. In India most sweets have chickpeas as the main ingredient ( after sugar if course).

My sister and I did the 28 day jumpstart by FitGirl. It was all meal prepping with absolutely delicious recipes. We prepped for 3 days in advance, I just find some of the food to change texturally if we prepped longer which was not appetizing at all. So in all we would prep 24 meals plus a no prep snack for each day to save time over a 3 day period. i.e. portion controlled things like packs of nuts, raisins, protein bars..things of that nature. I found it was easier to stick to a good healthy diet (not necessarily for weight loss) and it just works for days you don't want to cook.

100$ is 100$ in the USA unless you're just one of those pompous vegans, usually familys on the West coast survive on 130$ for the MONTH.

That is not true at all. Pricing and wages and cost of livings are different in different regions. Ever noticed how gas prices aren't the same in every state or that housing price per square foot is different? Minimum wages are also different in almost every state.

I live in NYC and can vouch that $100 a week for ONE person is way expensive. I live on $100 a MONTH if I'm good about it, $200 if I'm not.

You can save a lot of money by buying dry beans, frozen corn (and other chopped veg), and lightly bruised fruit and veg from the discount bin. Family packs of meat can be repackaged and stored in the freezer for weeks. Spices bought in bulk instead of jars often amount to at least 5x less expense. Things like soup, curry, and chili scale up really well and the price per portion is typically under a dollar if you're not using entirely fresh veg or premium meat.

I do meal prep every weekend for school since I don’t like cafeteria food and I have more variety over what I want to eat. For breakfast, I usually have vanilla Greek yogurt with nut free granola (because I’m allergic) with berries. For lunch, I have either a salad jar or a burrito bowl and as a snack, I have dark chocolate dipped strawberries or a homemade dessert like a cookie or cupcake

I use my slow cooker to add a bit of variety to my meal prep. I'll prep two or three days of the same thing and then set out the slow cooker on the forth day for a hot meal ready when I arrive home. I then portion out the rest and freeze them so I can grab them next week whenever I'm tired of the same thing or haven't had time to do any prepping. This is also a great way to lower the cost of each meal, most of my slow cooker meals are only about $2-$3 each.

I would really like start meal prepping! Right now I'm in a very busy period of my life with stuies and work, I never have time to cook anymore :( and my boyfriend isn't really a masterchef. I feel prepping would certainly make it easier to eat healthy.
@pinkeysherbet72496 жыл бұрын
When I meal prep I less make meals and just cook/chop everything. This makes it so I can eat the same thing all week if that's what I feel like doing or change it up. It also allows me the flexibility to accommodate my changing needs on the fly, like if I'm feeling extra hungry one morning or want a lighter lunch.
