Love the SL65 but can’t help but find it slightly comical that SL stands for Sports and Light yet it’s the least sporty and light, still, its a great car

Great no.1 choice on the TTRS. I’ve got the coupe and it’s a rare site on the roads, turns heads and goes like the clappers! Handling is amazing and you’d have to driving crazy on a public road to feel any of the ‘under steer’ people go on about! Sad times that Audi have stopped producing them but so glad I’ve got the last iteration of the little rocket TTRS.

The current gen Z4 a car I really want to mock: it's not pretty, I'm not a fan of convertibles, it's too heavy and I don't think they even come fitted with indicators. That said, the Supra is hugely let down by a last-gen interior but I know it's a good engine and decent chassis, so I am going to have to give a Z4 M40i a go when I next swap cars. It's definitely a wildcard though, it would have to be improbably good to get onto the shortlist...but then the GS450h and 308 GTi were both definitely wildcards and I bought those!

compare them all to the mx5?? i've got an NC MX5 2.0 25th anniversary, fully forged, turbo, 350bhp, half the price of all these cars and will leave them all standing on track or road.

I love high performance cars and bikes, but sadly living in Uk it is now a complete waste of money to go for performance anymore.Cameras and 20 mph speed limits everywhere, oh yes and most roads littered with potholes to wreck those expensive low profile wheels and tyres.

I’ve had a TT-RS Roadster, only recently. It was the latest version Audi have just killed……but……mine was the pre-Particle- Filter . The engine is a masterful bit of work. I’d say the engine was best I’d ever had…..ever. It was 3.7 to 60 not 4 seconds.

Having said that about UK, the SL 63 is a lovely car to own and enjoy. I have an SLK 350 and have driven a couple of SL`s,yes a beautiful car.

Excellent presentation and a great choice of vehicles! I love the roadsters and I pray they continue with these geared for performance and enjoyment not just straight line acceleration.

Other good alternatives for under £40k in the roadster - V8 Vantage, TVR Griffith 500, F type R, XKR

yeah the Aston has more power than these cars (except the SL63) and is better looking and sounding than any of them. TVRs are always a brave choice but a lot of fun aha.

The Z4 M40i is great. Although a Boxster is more fun on track, its ride is too hard for potholed / bumpy roads. The Z4 is a better all round car.
@ApothecaryTerry7 ай бұрын
Interesting - I wouldn't say a Boxster ride is too firm at all, I daily drove a 981 Cayman S (the one JB drove 😁) for 3 years, which I think is slightly firmer. It's no Rolls Royce, but it's softer than almost all hot hatches (of which I test drove most in the last 2 years!). I've also done a few thousand miles in a diesel S-Line A6 and that's only marginally better on rough surfaces than the Porsche to be honest. I've never driven the Z4, but I test drove a Supra and it was a very different experience to the Porsche. The Supra felt so much heavier, less responsive and sounds nowhere near as good. I don't know how the Z4 refinement compares to the Supra, which was better than the Porsche but that's why I was selling the Porsche and the Supra wasn't enough better to justify all the other compromises, for me.

@ApothecaryTerry My comment was based on a 718 that I drove. It had large diameter wheels which didn't help. My favourite Boxster is the 987 and hence I've just posted a video about it on my channel
@ApothecaryTerry7 ай бұрын
@@thewizard9 Ah yeah - I specifically chose one with 19s. Also standard suspension and exhaust for me, PASM and PSE both just give you options that are worse either side of that perfect balance provided by the standard kit I think. The 718 is also a little heavier, which can't help with that stuff. Fun fact (well, I like it) - the 981 is the lightest gen, at least for the Cayman. I still think a 981CS is the perfect sports car, way more modern than a 987 but with the right engine - the 4.0 GTS is fine, but it's too much and sounds too rough. As a daily though, Porsches (any Cayman/911 anyway) really do have horrific road noise, which makes them annoying for long journeys. Sadly my commute is 450 miles / 10 hours, so not hearing music at a sensible volume isn't an option, even if I only do that run about once a month...hence I now have a car with massage seats instead! Also boooost and a stupid exhaust, because I'm a massive chav at heart.
@dstewusa70547 ай бұрын
@thewizard9 With respect, totally disagree 981 GTS a great liveable sports car and better than any Z4

I owned the red Z4 M40i press car you see on the internet and loved it.I drove a Boxter to compare but it felt slow although on rare occasions Boxter might have been more capable (smooth open roads or on a track) but then you have to pay £5 K more for the benefit.

Lies, can't find a Boxster GTS for 50k US. Cheapest is 60k, and it has 32k miles. There's one with less than 10k miles and they want 79,000 US dollars! The only AMG SL63 near me is a 2017 with 35k miles for $79,000, and they go up! All the way to $179,000!! You have a different perspective on cheap sports cars than I do. Your video is worthless, not to be confused with cheap! 😂

Great video as usual :) Yes I think the roadster will evolve into EV's, the one that excites me at the moment and the one I think will take off reasonably well is the new MG Cyberster, wow what an absolute weapon for around 50k new, not to mention the long awaited new Tesla Roadster, there has to be a rehashed EV MX5 coming surely.
@just1ncred1ble...7 ай бұрын
If roadsters go electric, it could be a final nail in the coffin of humanity (car context), as EVs are an utter ECO inversion- in short...
