This is why it is foolish to take a $12K bike off road. Your learning the hard way why it is best to buy a used dual sport for off road riding. Been riding all my life. Still cannot believe people buy these bikes for off road riding. Fragile, heavy...these are road bikes.

The biggest 'flaw' is using the bike in places it shouldn't be taken and dropping it so frequently. You bought the wrong bike. I've had no problem with any of your complaints, though will admit I have much better crash bars than the Triumph ones.

That’s my biggest annoyance with modern bikes - the need to buy a whole assembly rather than individual components. It’s not very environmentally friendly for one thing and makes cost of insurance unnecessarily expensive

Why would someone take a $13,000 motorcycle off road? Why would someone believe this bike was meant to be ridden in the back country? Because they saw a promo video of a professional racer ripping it in the desert and the woods! Because people are obsessed with gathering knowledge but don't care about understanding, about having good sense. The same people who would take this bike or its big brother off road are the people who can look up at the sky, and explain why the rain is falling and how the lightening is manifested across the sky but they stand there and get soaked and struck by lightening because they don't have the sense to get out of it. These are not design flaws. Triumph laughs at every sucker that buys this bike for "adventuring"...they laugh all the way to the bank. I had this bike. I rode it on the road, not in the woods. It was an awesome bike. I never had it fail on any of these points, and I am guessing if I would have kept it for 100K miles, I never would have had it fail on any of these points. Why not buy a used dual sport for $4,000 and thrash it? Even buy a new one for $6,000 and ride it anywhere. If they total their dual sport, they just buy another used one and go ripping some more. Don't drop any bike or crash it. It is going to break, and that is not a design flaw. That is a rider flaw.

My friends called mine "The dust buster". I wish I had known that the bike had hundreds of "known issues" before I bought it.

DOT doesn't allow for fuel tanks to be made of plastic for use on the roadway

Good enough flaws to discourage me on not buying it.

Triumph states these bikes are for light off road duties only ( think made dirt roads). Using it as suggested I have ridden my 2015 Tiger 800XCx across Australia twice fully loaded. Yes, I have broken some plastics too. Cost me $500 AU ( 300 US). Was it worth it? Yes I love the bike too. BTW I have a Suzuki DRZ 400E model with a 30L Safari tank fitted. The same feeling regarding fuel load exists when it is full, so I wouldn't consider it a design flaw at all. You just ride accordingly until the level drops down a bit.

This is not an off road bike. It’s an adventure bike. That mean you could take some unpaved roads sometimes in your trip, doesn’t mean it’s made to go out to do hard off road. There’s so many better bikes to do this purpose you wanna.

Thank you for this video and having bought an 800xca new in 2018, I agree with these 5. Related to the crash bars issue is the low and wide placement of the front turn signals. The Triumph upper crash bar design isn't strong enough to protect the turn signals, which will be broken in a tip over, along with the plastic fairing near the tank, as you mentioned. I agree the Heed bars seem to offer a better option, and note the new Tiger 900 has the front turn signals placed higher and inset, where they need to be on an offroad-focussed bike. Ride safe.

The plastic trim on the side of the tank is designed to be sacrificial, a drop or 2 and they are meant to be replaced. You can always get the 8 gallon safari tank. PS, it is top heavy even with an empty tank compared to a T7 and 1290 adv R with full tanks.

I did get the Heed bars on my 14' 800xc, much better. I am older now and very tall, my off road days are over, I put some Scorpion II tires on it and now I just cruise it mostly, it is comfortable for my height and is really a fantastic road bike. One thing I do not like is switching the rider modes, PITA. 40k miles and counting... Great Video!

I have a 2019 800XRT and love it. I am in the process of changing the position of the front indicators which are a design flaw!

Great video! You may not know but actually you helped me a lot in my choice back in January! After long searching I stopped on Tiger 800 XCA, 3000 mile from February till now! I would add number 6 design problem.... the signal lights! I didn’t have the tank bar and dropped the bike from a stop position and the whole plastic frame around it cracked... anyway, absolutely love the bike and finally decided to start my own KZbin channel too! Great video as always! In the future can you give some tips on how to ride those big, heavy machines off-road? Newbie here!

Now that is a useful review. Most reviews are from people who ride a new bike down the road for hour and think that’s it
