The guy who set this up is kind of BS'ing ... 1) the range (of ranks) should be distributed equally - either linear or logarithmic; e.g. [rank 4.5k] -> range [3k to 6k] and not [4k to 7k] 2) the replays should not be older than a few weeks; e.g. that one 2yr old replay is misleading 3) the ranges are too narrow; it's almost impossible to hit a guess like this ... and not fun ... 4) public leaderboards = external tools; should not be allowed

Don't worry about it, it's just derankers with topplays full of 6.5-7.5* chokes that are worth like 200-250pp skewing the average.

I'm not a fan of him saying _"another one who's playing a map that's way outside their skill level"._ Lot's of 4, 5, and 6 digit players play hard maps because it's a great feeling when you pass the maps. Getting FC's isn't everything. Not everyone actually cares about PP. Personally, I've never FC'ed a 6 star map, but I have passes on ranked 8 star maps. I've always improved more by playing hard to pass map, compared to hard to FC maps. And I (and many others) find more joy in completing maps, compared to FC'ing maps.

When he says "it's far outside of their skill level" he is speaking in terms of consistency, not in terms of simply being able to play the map. Osu! is a fundamentally consistency based game. sure, if you take what he said, there are some aspects you could say that it's not entirely true, but when it comes to speaking of a players skill overall in osu! you need to be looking at consistency as a whole.

Typically when something is “out of your skill level” in osu! People mean you can’t FC it, passable range and FC range are different. It’s absolutely essential to play things that are “out of your skill range” essential to growth! But don’t get offended about it lol

There're maps I can consistently pass, and I have a consistent amount of misses whenever I play those maps. Maps like those are to me in my skill level, and to BTMC who defines skill level differently, I apparently shouldn't be playing those map according to the tone of his voice.
