I just picked up a kx60 the other day and it has no packing so it’s really loud. I’m going to pack it along with my 400ex.

It would be nice if the cheap stuff lasted. Been there n it just aint the same as the fmf stuff. On 2 strokes since 1980. So we really didnt have repacking kits back then so house hold insulation is what we had to use.

Pretty neat! Love how resourceful everybody used to be

K wool works and is cheaper than muffler repacking kit. It is ceramic based so it takes extreme heat and will last. They use the stuff to line kilns and metal foundries. I have used it in the past. Repacked an m4 can on my old ninja 600

I had to take mine out, last person who owned my 450f didn’t change it at all and when I went out a few times I could smell burnt packing, it’s obnoxiously loud and not good but I have warned basically everyone in my town( it’s very small so everyone knows everyone) and they’re fine with it until I get new packing
@michaelm1573 Жыл бұрын
You take the time to warn people in your town about your loud ATV instead of just going on Amazon prime and getting some delivered the next day? How much more hassle is it to go around and warn everybody that you're going to be a nuisance instead of just going to go get it fixed? Kind of a weird story dude 😎

High, I have a question, I have a ktm exc 125 and a friend of mine told me I could repack my silencer (fmf power core) with just half of the muffler packing material resulting in not only sound but also power increase... My question is.. would you reccommend this procedure or is it just bad for the bike? Cheers.
@WrightRong6 жыл бұрын
I wanna start by saying I am by NO means a mechanic. I do agree that different amounts of packing could affect hp a little (when I say little I mean very little, I don't think it would ever be enough for you to actually feel/tell the difference) The bigger difference would definitely be sound I would imagine, less packing = more sound (unless you've crammed so much packing in there it becomes rock hard) Really I think if you fall within a large acceptable margin of how much/ little packing to use you'll be fine
@antoniocaires70046 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot mate!@@WrightRong

You'll lose HP. Just because it's louder doesn't mean it's stronger. Look at other repack YT videos.

yupp, works good but doesn't last very long. You can try it for free, just grab a hand full out of your attic. BUT, If your packing looks as good as that does just remove the inner layer or two(what ever is fouled) and reinstall it after cleaning the tube, maybe use fiberglass to fill in around the outside if it is too loose after reinstallation.

8:36 the hour meter has 13.5 hours, i haven't had it on there that long.. (what does that mean?!)
@tpghl52252 жыл бұрын
13.5 hours isn’t that long is what he means. I’ve had my hour meter on my rm250 for 60 hours and my 450 for 45 hours. And that’s really not that long

@WrightRong4 жыл бұрын
Very true! However this is $5 and has plenty left over to use at least a 2nd and 3rd time probably. I'd imagine the fmf packing is better, but for people who don't have access to it locally this would for sure repack them for a weekend.

You almost did what I wish every KZbin would do.....QUIT SHOUTING YOUR TITLE AT THE START OF THE VIDEO. I don't care who you are, I don't care what you do what company you work at, I don't care what brand parts your buying. and even if I did, it's infuriating that the first 30 seconds of every, single, video is the Title+Description, spoken at me. I clicked the video because of the title and the description, I know what it says, Why are you spamming me?
