I threw a few of my headbands & hair ties into a bag of catnip, shook it up for awhile, then I tied them onto a shoelace end. I hung it from a doorknob - My cat has a ton of toys from the store and this homemade one is his all time fave!!!! And put an old tee-shirt over a box, leaving the hole open for kitty to crawl in & out - they'll LOVE their new "cat cave"!!!

haha I've made a cat cave before! Headbands and hair ties are great you're right- sometimes our kitties will get one of Sarah's and it's like they've just made a sudden revelation about the world's greatest toy :D :D We have some mickey mouse headbands (like ones you'd see at Disneyland) and my black kitty Luna will straight up bristle up her tail all big and then attack them! It's like she thinks they are a snake :)

I loved this! For the ball one, you can cut the strips a little thicker and put treats in the ball, that way they won't fall out as easily and the kitties will go wild. You can also glue gun different heights of tubs in the bottom of a small box and drop treats into random tubes for the cats to dig out. Crumpled up bus passes are a hit in my house.

It is very rare I find a DIY video where I can confidently make things. Thank you for providing simple solutions, I can't wait to try it out. I have an older cat who isn't the most active, any tricks for getting older cats to play for more than 20 seconds? I only have 1 toy he likes out of the 20 or so I have tried since adopting him in Feb!

Also every time I get out my laundry basket, my kitten is trying to pull cloths out of the holes. Ha Ha So I stick my fingers through the holes and kinda play like a whack-a-mole game. Maybe you can design a toy like that. If you do, please share the video. :)
