I rebuilt my 47re transmission, but apparently I messed up somewhere. Hoping you can tell me. After putting it back in it drove down the road ok for a few miles. But then while driving it just quit pulling like in nutral. When it does this i loose 2nd, 3rd, and overdrive all. But 1st still works. But i can shift to nutral for a second, then back in drive and everything works for another mile ir so, then does the same. Again i can go to nutral and back to drive and it works again. Do you have any ideas on what is wrong with it. Thanks Larry

Would it be a seal, or would that have to be in the valve body? Thanks

Hard to say for sure but if you didn't have similar issues previously, I'd suspect something went wrong on reassembly or you don't have enough fluid in the system. Did you vacuum test the valve body? If no and you want to learn how to do it, I have a video coming out next week on a 47RE valve body showing comprehensive testing of all hydraulic circuits...The valve bodies in these transmissions are notorious for wear, especially in the 4-spool switch valve, PR valve, LP valve, TCC timing and TCC apply valves. The governor plugs are also prone to leakage resulting in all sorts of drivability problems. Thank you for watching - please sub if you haven't already so you will be notified when the 47RE videos hit the channel!

Are you missing Video # 6 from the playlist or just have them mis-numbered? Moving along nicely so far getting everything put back together! Thanks Again!

Not sure why some folks aren’t seeing it (someone else asked the same question a little while ago) but its on the channel. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2rQkmeqa8Sgo6s

Where did you get your drivers for the bushing? I can’t find a large enough driver for the direct drum bushing. 66.5mm correct?

I acquired all my bushing drivers off ebay years ago...Just measured the bushing in a 46RE direct drum sitting on the shelf and it's roughly 2-1/2 inches wide...Get something that's a bit bigger than that and it should work.

@@nickstransmissions yeah it seems like bushing drivers that size are hard to come by. Found a 2 5/8” driver on snap-ons website that should do the trick. Just pricy. Thanks for the help!

Cool, you're welcome! The bushing just needs to be seated flush with the surface so that will work just fine.

Recently my 48re transmission went out. I rebuilt it, but it went out because I failed to check the transmission lines by blowing through them. The lines were not allowing any flow. So the center(reverse drum)support went out quick. The clutches seem OK. Should I expect any seals blown somewhere or would the clutch pack seals be OK? Thanks

Hi ServentofYahuwah, thank you for watching...If everything air checks fine on the bench, you should be ok with the lip seals that you initially installed during the rebuild...Clean out the entire case so it's free of any contaminants, replace (or turn) the reverse drum and replace the band and you should be good.
