Money: coming from the US, you might be used to get groceries at supermarkets and eat a lot of ready made food. This will turn out very expensive in any other country! So number one lesson must be learn to cook with fresh ingredients... Adapt to the local food and buy your groceries where the locals buy them.
@angelrenate
@angelrenate 4 жыл бұрын
Had a friend move to Costa Rica and she said there was one brand of everything (one brand ketchup, one brand bread, etc.) and healthcare is like you get a shot for everything and that's it. Just a shot that may or may not work and send you on your way. So there's that too.
@makanaki513
@makanaki513 4 жыл бұрын
A good number of African countries have food VERY CHEAP and highly available... n there is a lot of freedom to grow your things. Just learn the local lingo accurately and eliminate the accent d'americano, that twenging makes the grocery prices double in a second.
@makanaki513
@makanaki513 4 жыл бұрын
@Erich Weiler still doesn't change the Fact that food in Africa is surprisingly cheaper, richer, less likely carsinogenic, has minimal control by governing bodies (which ironically leaves people with a wonderfully array of food choices and an ability to grow their own food n keep their own chikens even in the surburbs). Corruption is another thing. Fun fact, did you know that if Africa and South America decided to not export any of their fruits n raw material 1st world countries would slowly but surely get malnutritioned? The wealth of African soil is the gift that keeps the world spinning. Otherwise, why would Africa be so invaded? I have a theory that corruption is a colonially caused issue since all european countries that had colonies still havent let go of control over the territories they created that we now have to call countries

I am an Black-American living in the Philippines. Just like where you are tissue is hard to come by when you are out in public so you had better carry your own supply. However, over in your home here most foreigners use a portable bidet for hygiene. This device attaches to your toilet and you have a water hose you spray for cleaning. It really is much better than toilet paper and I wished I had this item before when I lived in the states. The locals use for hygiene a little small plastic pot with a handle they put water in in the bathroom. But, I could never use that thing because I had water going all over the place. Yikes!

Thank you for being real about relocating to a new country or even new city in the U.S.! But seriously, you have to test it out and fully research it. You have to develop relationships with people. There will be culture shock. And the tips on bathrooms are priceless!

I moved to ethiopia from america..all you have said holds true..the hustle in ethiopia was when you buy land, the whole family has to sign..if not whoever didnt sign can take land legally..and also got my goods taken..rhey didnt get in house but grabbed items they could reach thru the window...hahahaha in ethiopia they call tissue "softy"...lol and children sell liytle packs everywhere you go..when i first got there i thought it was odd but soon came to find out why..🤔🤤😲😂🤣give thanks for sharing your experience!

True about security. No country on this planet is 100% secure, and Ghana is no exception. Also bathrooms and toilets are the worst things you can ever experience in Ghana.
