I love the smell of clothes dried on a line in the sunshine! I grew up in Bermuda and we did not have a dryer. It is so humid there that things took forever to dry unless you dried them in the sun. Now I live in a pretty dry climate so things dry quickly. Clothes, etc. last longer when air-dried. I like to hang everything on a clothes rack since I don't have a clothes line here. I prefer towels not dried in a dryer because slightly rough terry exfoliates much better than towels right out of the dryer. Nothing beats a dryer for getting the wrinkles out of clothes when you're too lazy to iron!

Please please, in terms of being pulled over by the police, don’t allow yourself to think you won’t get pulled over or you will be very disappointed. I absolutely love Ghana and intend to move there one day but they have something called check points that just pop up at night and can be very annoying. They’re supposed to be for our safety but a lot of police just use it to extort money from people. Especially around Christmas because thats Ghanas busiest time of the year as tourism increases significantly so they get a lot of money from us tourists. Some of them can be pricks and will threaten to put you in jail if you don’t give them so and so amount of money, some of them are cool and just shine a torch in your car quickly and let you go. We still have corruption in Ghana police force, its just a different type compared to what we’re used to in the US or in my case, the UK.

It's called code switching. You hear it most often with West Indians and Africans when they're at school/work vs with their family/friends. The funniest ones are when you hear them answer the phone all proper but switch immediately when they realize that it's a family/friend that they're speaking with.

@@tanshievlogs Absolute garbage. There are literally tens of thousands of Jamaicans living in Ghana and Ethiopia as we speak. Thousands more visit Africa yearly on vacation. If it was so dangerous, what would they be doing out there? It's like somebody saying, ''Don't go to America'', or ''Don't go to Jamaica''. ''There's too much shooting and too many gangs there''. Doesn't make sense, because even though that is true of America and JA, you are still highly unlikely to be the victim of crime if you visit either country, and you will miss out on so much positive stuff in the countries. Exact same in places like Ghana and Nigeria. Just be a man and go. You won't regret. I think you'll be shocked how similar Ghana and Nigeria are to Jamaica.

olivia brown 😂😂i hear that sis but thats a sure way to end up spending your spending money quuuuuickly if you don’t live out there. When they see us foreigners, they like to increase their prices like crazy sometimes. I wana be charged the usual price then i like to give them extra when paying. I actually don’t go anywhere without my fiance who is Ghanaian born and bred so speaks local dialects. They seem to charge him more appropriately 🤷🏾‍♀️😅

You will walk like a truly free person. The only thing I pray for is large opportunities like the European countries have. Ppl will come to you and truly ask about your well being. You are right that at present we have slaves. I recognize the same slave system everywhere, on every continent. Some do come from Ghana, some Europe, some Asia, everywhere and no matter where they run from, they run into the same system. Apparently Moses tried to escape it too. It is true that Jamaica does have the spiritual traditions you say.

This is so interesting. I moved to South America from the US and see many similar things like the lower cost of living, water and propane tanks, using voltage converters, and the chill lifestyle. You mention the difference of having income in dollars vs. local currency, and I wanted to share a job tip. For native English speakers, it's pretty easy to get a job teaching English online (no teaching certification required), and you get paid in US dollars! People around the world need to learn English for business, so there are always new students. It's a good way to work from home and get paid in dollars. You need good internet connection and the ability to withdraw money from your account in the US.

Read about the continent and the people and do not let false images guide your thinking. As a child born in the early 60's the vibe around my environment was pro Africa . Our family left the south in 69. We moved to Detroit where my older siblings shared with the younger ones culture. And believe it or not my parents were very open they were in there early 40's. We were like one of a group of families, that were founding families in a community center that was Afrocentric. Ghana isn't perfect and nor is any place on this earth perfect. However, when we touched down and came out into the warm air. The party of people waiting for us along with others waiting for their family and friends all said at some point Welcome Home.I tell you with everything in me even before I heard these greetings I felt Home. I know America is the land of my birth and it is home. But the welcome home spoke to me even from the land. The negative vibe we feel in the states as the result of being the descendants of Africans was absent. I always felt warm and everyone around me looked like me. I was mistaken for being native borne Ghanaian many times. You will love it if your mind is transformed before you make your pilgrimage. I had the fortune of being prepared every since I was a yout...Lol BlessUp Sis and enjoy every minute of your trip. You probably will start thinking how can I live here....!

That “weird thing” that looked like a green lizard is called Corilla or Serasi. It is a POTENT hepatic food. You only cook a bit of it, maybe steam it- but don’t stew it with other foods as it is extremely bitter! It is a purging food. In Jamaica we drink the herb once a year as part of our annual “wash out”. Kids would disappear when that time came. 😂

I am here in Ghana and a Ghanaian citizen. I believe with $250,000 which is somewhere GHS1.2m you ll be all set to leave in Ghana. U can setup a business or possibly invest ur money and be living on your returns. We love to have people around. As long as they show as love. We give them love back. There are bad people everywhere but trust me in Ghana there are waaaaaay more good people than bad people. U welcome in advance.

Dameon Williams That amount is capable of setting you up for life in any African country. But be careful by not broadcasting how much you are worth. Also don't contact anyone soliciting to help you with that investment on this comment section or anywhere else on the Internet. Most of these are scammers. So be careful. Peace and stay bless.

You do a very good job explaining the reality of life in an African country. I just wanted to add that when you go to the market it’s good to bargain your prices. You save more bargaining rather than accepting the initial price. If they know you are foreign , they’ll always try to increase the prices too.

The houses are built from cement because of geographical location to natural disasters. If they build with cement in the west, they would freeze (or burn in summers) to death. If we (Africa & Caribbean) built with wood, we'd need to repair like crazy in our wet season, esp hurricane seasons. There's a method to the madness :)

Ryu Roush this depends on the house you choose to build and the cost of the land you buy. The good thing about Tema land is it is government land not tribal land so no title issues there when you buy it. But for a small house and plot one story house simple finishes 30k more elaborate multi story building can run you upwards 100k to 200k for fancy finishing
