This is awesome! I used to wish I knew how to do so many of the things you designed when watching your vlog and now you are providing tutorials! I would love to see tutorials on everything you covered here, Joe. I’m looking forward to more videos.

Excellent video, I’ve been waiting for somebody like you! You’re doing all of the things that I’m interested in… I’ve been dabbling in electronics for 40 years… But unfortunately still dabbling. I’m recently retired and hope to have more time and a place very soon to dedicate to all of my hobbies, ( or new priorities in life!) I very much look forward to your instructional videos… your error checking and a word you mentioned in the barcode reading segment about your code being very robust appeals to me. I don’t want to have to be constantly monitoring and resetting all of these little projects that I have planted all over my house. But don’t sacrifice much-needed rest and sleep for the upcoming videos. Don’t burn yourself out… We can be patient, your family is number one! Thanks again, Steve I just noticed this was posted nine months ago… I hope you come back Joe! Do you have an amazing demeanor for this!

We enjoyed your video. And I watch your chicken cam. No place to make a comment. Can I do that here? I just wanted to suggest removing the dividers in the nesting box. The chickens have no concept nor expectation of privacy. It was difficult to see them crowd into the same box. I think just one big area for them would make them more comfortable and it would cause less stress for them (since they WANT to all lay their eggs in the same box!)

Although you haven't posted an individual Particle project in more than a year and if you are still monitoring this channel, maybe you could develop a Particle solution for monitoring and recording a well pump, for potable water, running and a flow meter for the amount of water pumped. And, maybe, adding remote control of an irrigation pump (that might be pressure drop control or flow control; i.e., either a drop in pressure or a detection of flow would turn on the pump with no flow turning off the pump). Thanks for considering the project.

Joe, great video. I caught at the very end that you've got one setup as a sump monitor? I'd be really interested if you did a video on that! I'm diving into the world of Photon and am hoping to turn one into a DIY sump monitor too

Am interested in environmental controls in greenhouse mangement. Had semester of that, unit was hard to understand. Can lose a lot of profit real quick with malfunction of automated louvers. Think there maybe a market for this for homeowners that want a more sofistacated cold frame for home gardening. Thermostat that could communicate to phone would help gardener maintain ideal temp.

Hi Joe we would like to see some more videos..they are very good. also would like to see the code for the watering sensor it looks like it will be easier than the esp32. Can you give us some code for the watering sensor and if you could also make something that uses the mesh protocol I don't know how this could be used in real life. Thanks again.

Hi Joe, I am interested in weather protection for the Relay Shield. What enclosure were you showing in the video?
@JoeDidItTV
@JoeDidItTV 4 жыл бұрын
I use the polycase WH series enclosures. I have about 100 of these in greenhouse and outdoor environments and have had no issues. I always install them using cable glands for the wires with cable glands pointing down. If you install the cable glands on the side or top, when the box cools (sun sets) the air will compress inside sucking in water.

What software are you using to build casa.joe?
@JoeDidItTV
@JoeDidItTV 5 жыл бұрын
Casa.joe is written mostly in php (all the backend workings of it). The front end is JavaScript. To interface with my Z-Wave and Insteon devices, I use the isy994i controller because it has both technologies (z wave and Insteon). Then casa.joe communicates with the isy994i via the LAN. I also communicate with various other devices around the house such as an alarm panel using a network card that I installed on the panel, WiFi thermostats using their API and also RTSP streams from IP cameras. Additionally, there’s a MySQL database which stores info about the endpoints and some data for logging. The energy monitor talks to casa.joe which updates this database with power usage. I think I’ll have a video series on this soon. The reason for going with both Insteon and z wave rather than one or the other is because there are things I like about both technologies and you can’t get all the hardware from one or the other.
@mickyfranks
@mickyfranks 5 жыл бұрын
@@JoeDidItTV Would definitely be interested that video series. I like how everything is centralized to one interface rather multiple apps and needing internet to be able to access them. The applications I would like to use this internet is not always accessible and being unable to use it when your internet is down by LAN is accessible is frustrating.

Build all and show each step slowly. Describe parts each time. List website where to buy each component, if you write code, post below that video or provide website storage matching code with video number and name. To fast and we can't learn or lose a step. Explain boards , where to solder wire , etc. I want to combine with my automation. If I get cheap video equipment to make video, we can share project builds. With each other and viewers.
