I bought an Arduino super starter kit (inspired by you) almost 2 years ago and only found myself unboxing it during this time! Please keep this going!!

Wow you explain this so well. I’m an engineering student and I’m taking this C++ programming class and for the lab part of the class, we have to build a robot using Arduino and ngl I’ve been going to class barely understanding anything but you made it really simple. One question I have is that how can I get better at coding and study for it? I always struggle understanding the concepts. :( Thank you for all your help!

Is the 4 relay output shield in your video discontinued? I could not find your model online. Any replacement to recommend? Thanks.

Sir Joe, Do you still work with Arduino boards, etc. ? I have 8switch . Need to buy a board and code to run it. USA/GA I have Asian vege garden in large pots for wife. Then a regular raised bed garden. First I want to connect moisture sensors to each pot. When each is dry then turn on its own pump to water that particular pot until the moisture sensor ....senses water... and turn off pump. I need that for each pot (8) Raised bed will be managed in rows for watering and run longer as needed. I had an accident but can learn by slow video of screen shot of every detail, especially code, loading code, soldering wires. I will run small hoses to each plant pot separately. How many pumps and moisture sensors to control pumps can each Arduino board of best choice run in total? 8 plants is 8sensors and 8 pumps. This will help me be able to have a garden! I am disabled. Most humble thanks!

I just need to put electrical charges pin into the photon then transmit that data over WIFI, this is possible right?

If I would buy a photon and have it setup to my Wifi in my home, could I tell the photon what to do from my iphone, from anywhere (say at work)? Assuming that I have all of the proper code and hardware setup correctly?

Yes, you can control it from anywhere on earth or even the space station, anywhere with internet.

Can i replace a particle photon in my project with an arduino considering the cost
@TheDrewker
@TheDrewker 4 жыл бұрын
depends entirely on what your project is... for something basic, absolutely. For a Particle Mesh network, probably not.

Thanks very clear. Joe, should I start with a Photon or the Xenon - Argon - Boron (and do the mesh stuff)? I am moving from the ESP32 Thanks, Bob.
@JoeDidItTV
@JoeDidItTV 5 жыл бұрын
If you don’t have a specific need for mesh - I would start with photon, it’s very stable and has had many updates since it’s release, it also has a lot of options as far as accessories go and many issues people have had with it are covered extensively in the particle forums. It’s really a sweet setup - and if you’re currently using the ESP32 as a web client to talk to your LAN - you can still do it! No cloud required for that communication!

And by “issues” I mean project specifics like how to use it in various scenarios - no real bugs with it that I’ve ever discovered. I do throw in some watchdog code in everything I do (but I do that on any platform)

@@JoeDidItTV I like the failsafe capability of bluetooth ver. 5, mesh or wifi. I will be applying the Boron to a medical "monitor need" and feel better with the redundancy in the boron. I will miss the Arduino IDE. And the libraries.

I notice the Android app has a 3.6 rating in the Play Store and a lot of usability issues reported in reviews. Personally I'm real hesitant to invest in a low-level hardware system that REQUIRES a smart phone app out of the box.

You would use something small like Adafruit Feather , not the OLD Arduino classic. You should have at least shown a photo of it or a Web page.

I decided to show the arduino Uno because a lot of people recognize it and this was a comparison between a generic arduino and a photon. I have all of the different feathers and use them in various projects which I’ll be sharing, so stay tuned!

What's the difference with particle Photon? How about it cost money continually what a rip
@JoeDidItTV
@JoeDidItTV 5 жыл бұрын
sounder83 it doesn’t cost money to run it. You can use it for free (which is what I do). The cloud only costs money if you have 100 or more connected.
@JoeDidItTV
@JoeDidItTV 5 жыл бұрын
If your application doesn’t need access to the cloud, which most of mine don’t, you can program them and hit the ‘forget device’ button so you will never reach the 100 device limit.
