In this video we will talk about 5 of my favorite easy low tech carpeting plants that are EASY to grow WITHOUT CO2! All of these will do ok in a low-tech aquascape. In the past i didn't use CO2 in my aquascapes, so i would like to share my experience with you.
These are the 5 easy to grow carpeting plants:
1. micranthemum monte carlo
2. marsilea hirsuta
3. cryptocoryne parva
4. staurogyne repens
5. helanthium tenellum
Products I used in my no CO2 aquascapes:
Soil: amzn.to/2A0sIwc
Light: amzn.to/2TsfBLh
Ferts: amzn.to/2XjiDCy and: amzn.to/36gWwRs

made me actually laugh out loud with that recommendation at the end to basically just "use everything good quality." Sage advice; can't go wrong there!

Hi, so basically the diff between with Co2 vs without Co2 is, the plants will still survive and grow regardless but it just grow much quicker with Co2 and slower without Co2? Thanks alot.

From what I’ve been learning most plants will grow without as well, but I have found some that people claim will die if they are not in co2 injections

What if no Co2 but have fertilizer???
@JohnnDyson
@JohnnDyson Жыл бұрын
@@johnandrewsuratos2985 it works like this. Plants need to absorb nutrients from fertilizers or from the water column. And that requires substantial amount of CO2 absorption. With less to no CO2 in the tank no matter how much fertilizers are there opants won't consume that and end up in more algae blooms
@kylejenkins9389

Co2 is already in the tank if you have fish, just not a lot of it. that’s why we add it, but no it’s not necessary unless you have a plant that absolutely requires it I guess

Would it be possible to use moss (like stringy moss or javamos) as a carpeting plant with a dry start? Or can’t moss attach itself on the substrate?

I like how the creator likes your comment but doesn’t answer the question To answer you, I think it’s possible with frequent maintenance but it won’t anchor and then carpet how you’re thinking, you’ll have to spread it out whenever it grows until it covers the tank then it would require frequent trimming

I've done it with emersed grown Christmas Moss. Add a thin layer of aquasoil and plop the emersed moss mat over it. Patiently wait for the moss to transition into it's submerged form and you'll have a full carpet.

I got a crypt parva carpet, rather quickly (less than 6mos.), bc of..... Dirted tank !! No lights! Ni heater! ...disclaimer; I live in San Diego. Maybe it's safer here to be "on the edge" with aquariums at room temp. Lol. Never had issues, and I usually do heat my tanks to 80degrees F. This one in wanted solely dirt to do all the work. And it works overtime, every time i set a dirted tank up. It's like I blow my own expectations waaaay outta the park each time. ❤️🐟🐠🌱 The parva, the dwarf hairgrass (eleocharis), & the crypts (lutea & wendtii) are fine in a tank smaller than 20g; but why did i ever put an Amszon sword & an onion plant (crinum thaianum) in a 10g?! I know better than that. 🤷‍♂️😂😂 That onion crinum ended up like eight feet long!! The sword was a petco tube-in-gel cutting, snail-free; from 4" to 12" in six months. Crypt parva carpeting bin six months or less- Dirt I'm telling ya! Cover it with sand/gravel, do water changes 50% every week, you're in business 👍

I always loock you video it's ooosum!! But maybe you could make a video of how you create an aquarium with plants that don't require a lot of light. such as moss, anubis, bucephalandra and the like. I want to make such an aquarium with co2, but I'm afraid that I won't get rid of the algae after that

*Disadvantages of having aquarium plants* Live aquarium plants need good lighting Live aquarium plants need CO2 injections to thrive Live aquarium plants need added fertilizer Live aquarium plants need aquarium plant soil Live aquarium plants make it harder to clean the tank. Live aquarium plants are hard to keep alive. Live aquarium plants can carry parasites and pest snails Live aquarium plants require more care Live aquarium plants are more expensive Live aquarium plants take up oxygen at night. Live aquarium plants require trimmings Live aquarium plants may die Live aquarium plants may get eaten Live aquarium plants will be infested with algae is a matter of time. Live aquarium plants cannot be kept with large fish. Each live aquarium plant needs a particular water conditions such as pH, water hardness, and water temperature to thrive. Dead aquarium plants, old decaying aquarium plant leaves need to be removed immediately, as it will quickly rot in the warm, bacteria-laden water. *Advantages of having aquarium plants* Aquarium plants purify the water just like land plants purify the air. Aquarium plants produce oxygen during the day Aquarium plants add beauty to the tank. Aquarium plants provide hiding places for fish and shrimp.
